ALTL Prt 2

A few months later
Time has gone by and I'm in a much better place than I was before. I haven't talked to Keith in months. I got a new number and of course a new phone. He's been trying to reach me but I never get back to him. We have nothing to talk about. He looks very happy and I'm happy he's happy. Ive been taking a break from social media because lets be honest its very toxic and it gets tiring after a while. All I do now is watch tv and work. As I was watching some show I heard a knock on my door.
"Who is it?"
The only visitors I get is my mama and she don't knock.
"Hey mom , you knocking today?" I said not looking while I opened the door. Then I heard that voice. The voice that made me melt every time I heard it.
"Hey Y/N"
It was him. The guy I've been ignoring and avoiding. And man did he look good as hell. He cut his hair and I always loved his hair cut.
"Keith um.. hey"
"Can I come in?"
I moved so he could come in. It was very awkward. Like we were strangers and just met. Like we haven't known each other for years.
"How you been?" He asked
"Great. And you?"
"I would say that but my best friend has being ignoring me for months. You should be ashamed you got your mom lying for you."
I smiled knowing she cant lie for nothing.
"You know why I haven't been talking to you Keith."
"I really don't."
"Look I don't really wanna talk about this ok. I think you should leave."
"I'm not going anywhere." He said sitting on the couch
"Don't you have a girl to entertain?" I said letting the truth out
"Ohhh. So that's what this about." He said folding his arms
"Can you come sit next to me?" He asked
I went over to him and sat down. We haven't been this close to each other in forever and I was starting to get nervous.
"Y/N do you know how bad I wanted you? Everybody would ask me when you and Y/N gonna get together? I'd laugh it off not knowing how to answer that question. Waiting on the day you would tell me you wanted me too. And you never did. What was I suppose to do?"
"You could've waited on me."
I know I sounded crazy but I didn't know what to say because he was right.
"I did! You didn't wanna ruin our friendship and I respected that. But you knew deep down we needed to be together."
"I don't know what to say but I'm sorry for not doing what I suppose to do. I was confused and didn't know what I wanted. But now I do and cant have you. That was the biggest mistake I ever made." I said letting the tears flow out.
He wiped them away just staring at me.
"I love you Y/N and I always will." He said holding my hands
"I love you too Keith."
"You never answered me when I asked could we still be friends."
"We will always be friends. From a distance."
"I understand."
I got up and opened the door for him. It was time to go.
He slowly moved towards the door and I knew he didn't want to leave but it was the right thing to do. He got to me and we looked at each other one more time. Out of nowhere he kissed me. It was magical. It felt amazing and I didn't want it to end.
"I'll see you around." He said giving me a kiss on the fore head.
I closed the door behind him and let out a big sigh. I guess that was closure. I'm ok with how that went. Still wishing things were different but that's just how life works.
