I don't own Kantai Collection or any of its characters. I don't own any warships either, just so we're clear. I only own my OCs and their history. Nothing more, nothing less.

Most days were boring for a girl in her teens. That is, when she was on summer break. Her family wasn't traveling anywhere, since her father's work was so demanding at this time. She was 10 years old when the abyssals struck the harbors of the world. Somehow, Hawaii remained unconquered by them, and defended by the refloated museum ships stationed there.

Avelina's day was no different. She sat on her bed with her phone in her hands, scrolling through news. Japanese ship girls have retaken Midway, the British have finally gotten Warspite in their ranks, the Germans somehow summoned Graf Zeppelin, and all that other stuff. The tan girl sighed and flipped over on her stomach, her dark brown hair getting into part of her vision.

She was a Filipino by blood, but American by heart and soul. With that knowledge, she had tan skin, dark brown hair, and dark eyes. Though, that just made people ask her if she was Mexican or not. That annoyed her to no end.

As of the moment, she wore a black collar shirt with the Philippines sown right over her heart in orange and a purple sweater over that along with blue shorts. No matter the weather or temperature, she always wore a sweater, no matter what.

Her eyes fell to the time on her phone, causing her to sigh. Even if she was on break, her out-of-school clubs still came around to bother her. Putting her phone in her back pocket, Avelina raced down stairs, grabbing her sports bag in the process as well as her black headphones. She was in for swimming, and she was good at it. One of the faster swimmers if she did say so herself.

"See you later, Nay! I'm going now!" She called from the door before running off to the street. Avelina didn't hear her mother's response as she strolled down the street toward the Hickam side of the base. She was apart of the Hickam Hurricanes, and she was proud of it too.

Fishing her phone from her back pocket she put on blue tooth and immediately put on one of the navy's songs. Avelina blames her father and elder sister for getting her into this. Humming as she traveled near the bay of the base, her eyes fell to the Arizona Memorial out on open water. Sure, she admired the men aboard the Arizona at the time, but what she admired even more was the soul of the ship. She wanted to meet her so very badly ever since she learned the Japanese summoned their ship girls.

That was the same with every other ship the US had. It was a shame only warships from World War 2 were being called back. Avelina continued on as she checked her bag again. For money. As much as her mother monitored her, she didn't do that whenever she was headed to swim practice, hence the reason why Avelina always brought money with her every swim practice. Just incase it ended early, she'd have some money to pay the people at the museum for tickets.

Speaking of practice, Avelina checked her phone again. Practice started at four, and usually ended at six. Her eyes widened and she immediately began sprinting down the street. I'm going to be late!

Sometimes I wonder why even try.

Avelina sighed as she wiped her face with the white towel from her bag. Practice, had ended an hour early, because one of their teammates suddenly passed out, plus there was now rain and thunder. She had her new set of clothes on, that being a blue polo shirt and brown cargo pants. Several of her teammates and coaches were under the shed as the light rain hit the ceiling above. They had gone there to dry off and change so that parents could pick them up.

Too bad the rain suddenly stopped along with the lightning and thunder.

"Hey! Avvy!"

Turning a bit, Avelina faced one of the elder kids of the swim team, Sammantha, though, most call her Sam. She hadn't changed out of her black swimsuit, and instead, wrapped her black jacket over her instead. Avelina stood up straight from checking her phone as she swung her bag over her shoulder. "Yes? Did you need something?"
