Tiffany.
Natalie and I signed out of work with our shift manager before walking out of the stadium. I was knackered and eager to get out of this ugly stewarding uniform.
"Which car park?" her face was twisted up to one of confusion as she spoke to Adrian on the phone. I followed beside her, making a tweet about how happy I was to finally finish work.
"Oh yeah, I see you." She changed direction, steering me with her. "Why are you driving a Mercedes please? Do you think you're buff?"
My eyes snapped up ahead of us and indeed, Adrian parked up in a black sleek Mercedes. I furrowed my eyebrows as we approached him. Waitrose paid a lot but not that much. I could see him looking over at us smiling. His mouth was moving as he held his phone to his ear. Natalie cackled out loud beside me so I assumed he said something funny to her.
"Whatever. Bye, big head." She locked off before turning to me. "Look at him stunting with his friend's car."
"His friend let him burrow his car… that's a Mercedes?"
What sort of friends did he have?
She shrugged. "I'm sure it's one of his boys that he does dodgy business with. Oh wells, I'm gonna stunt today boy." She beamed running over to him. He hopped out of the driver's seat and opened his arms for her when she jumped on him. As they hugged, his eyes locked with mine and I gave a shy smile.
"No hug nah?" he asked me once he pulled away from his cousin who was already circling the car, biting on her index finger.
I rolled my eyes before stepping forward and hugging him.
"How are you?" he asked into my neck.
"I'm good." I smiled when we both pulled away. His smile suddenly faltered as he stared at me.
"What?" I asked anxiously.
His didn't reply but his eyes darkened as his hand came up towards my cheek. I shivered involuntarily.
"What happened to you?"
I frowned at him confused, watching as his brown orbs studied me. He was so close.. My brain finally racked through memory lane and I remembered the brawl with Susan. I laughed embarrassed, looking away.
"Oh, I had a fight." I said dismissing it with my hand. I didn't want him to judge me and think I was that kind of girl, because I wasn't.
"Why?"
He still hadn't removed his hand from my cheek. His touch was soft and tender and I almost leaned into it.
"Erm, it's a long story." I swallowed.
"Does she have a black eye too?"
I smiled a little. "I think so. I hit her pretty hard."
Finally he smiled; his dimple mesmerising me. "Bad girl, yeah?"
I shook my head, laughing. "No,"
His smile remained and his hand eventually fell back to his sides.
"Must be nice." I gestured to the car.
He tore his eyes away from me and looked over at it. "Yeah. It's not mine though. My friend's letting me burrow it for a while." He shrugged.
I nodded, holding my bag in front of me as it rested on my shins.
"Ready?" he turned back to me.
"Yeah."
He opened the door for me and I climbed in the back. Natalie was already strapped in the passenger seat taking pictures of herself.
"Get in, Tiff." She leaned back so that I was in her selfie. I leaned forward smiling. She snapped a few photos and Adrian joined in some of them. "Pose guys." Natalie flipped the camera and leaned back so only Adrian and I was in the photo. He rested his head on mine and I smiled at the camera once more.
