sleep was a long forgotten thing for taylor ever since she and karlie moved in together in their new apartment.

it had been about twenty days since they moved here and in the first week, figuring out how to get rid of the bedbugs took away the little sleep she used to get. the second week, the girls went a little reckless and having sex meant no sleep.

taylor's messed up sleep schedule was affecting her now. it was only seven and she was already ready to fall asleep right where she was, sitting on the very comfortable couch, waiting for karlie to come back from work.

she felt something heavy in her lap, whatever it was woke taylor up and she was ready to spit fire at whoever did that to her.

it was karlie. the taller girl had arrived home and had settled herself down on her girlfriend's lap.

"hi sleepy, i missed you." karlie bops taylor's nose with her index finger and the older girl grumbled something before attempting to go back to sleep.

"wait! don't sleep. the sky looks so pretty tonight, let's go on the roof!" karlie suggested with so much enthusiasm that she had to get off the comfortable place that was taylor's lap.

"yeah- and freeze to death, no thanks." taylor replied sarcastically before trying to fall back into the couch. karlie caught her body mid air and sat her up.

"well babe, it's a good thing you have sweaters and blankets, and a girlfriend who loves to cuddle." her green eyes sparkled as she smirked at her sleep deprived girlfriend.

taylor took a long pause, she was sure she didn't want to go on the roof and stargaze in the middle of winter. but karlie was offering cuddles, and that was one irresistible offer.

"fine." taylor says in a tone that was somewhat a mix between a groan and a laugh.

karlie grabbed every blanket in sight along with the fuzziest sweaters, while taylor held on to the corner of the taller girl's shirt and walked after her like a zombie, or a kid trying not to lose their mom in a supermarket.

the sweaters were put on when the city's temperature began to go down. taylor still regretted coming up here, albeit the stars were really pretty to look at and the company wasn't that bad either, she was chilled to the bone.

"this is such a bad idea." taylor grumbled as she was nearly transforming herself into a human cocoon to stay warm. karlie, on the other hand seemed to be enjoying the sight of the displeased girl.

she threw her arms and a thick blanket around her short and sleepy, and annoyed girlfriend. they clung to each other, trying to avoid the cold new york wind that was smacking them in the face every once in a while.

taylor was nodding and nearly falling asleep when she heard the other girl say, "look up."

the sky was clear, the stars filled the dark night sky like glitter dots on a dark screen.

it was so bright yet so dark. the bright city lights on the bottom and the stars above created a beautiful backdrop as the girls cuddled. it was as if they were in their own sparkly bubble. just the two of them, and no one else. the wind didn't seem to phase taylor anymore as she was now quite fascinated by the twinkling stars. karlie took it to her advantage and wrapped her arms tighter around the blonde who wasn't so sleepy anymore.

the older girl was ready to lose more sleep if it meant she could watch the beautiful starlit sky and feel her girlfriend's warm presence next to her.

they didn't talk, they were just holding onto each other and identifying constellations. holding each other was a measly way of showing affection yet both the girls could feel the undying love for each other. it was a sharp contrast, the weather so cold and their bodies so warm. taylor now knew how love felt like, she wanted to define how exactly she felt in that moment as love. she was home in more than one way and she wouldn't want anything in her life to be different.

it was getting colder and the girls tried to be attached to each other tighter than they were before. they eventually had to stop when there was literally zero space in between them. almost like they were both just one single body.

karlie had to grab another blanket to cover them up. the girls probably stayed up until much later but eventually lack of sleep got the best of taylor and she didn't even remember dozing off, snuggled into her girlfriend, softly snoring off into the peaceful realm of sleep.
