" It doesn't hurt anymore ... that's bad, right?
It means I'm dying."

"Yes. Yes it does."

_______________

CICELY  BEL-PHOEBE grew up surrounded by love as the youngest of three children. Her parents, August and Clementine Bel-Phoebe, made sure of that since her very first day in the cruel world they were forced to live in.

The couple didn't expect another child after Ginger and Rosemary, their first daughters, so when they found out that five years after Rosemarys birth, there was yet another child to arrive, to bless them, they were overwhelmed with the happiness that life was giving them.

Both her parents and her sisters, especially Rosemary (who always wanted to have a doll to play with), made sure that Cicely grew up as sheltered as possible from both the hatred and the brutality that was surrounding them in District 11.

Or at least, they had tried.

Still, Cicely counted to the little population of District 11 that hadn't witness a family member die - not because of the capitol itself, at least. Which also made her one of the few lucky ones.

The biggest loss she had ever felt was connected to the HUNGER GAMES. A cruel  invention of the Capitol, that was supposed to show whole Panem how much power it had, and something, that made many people lose their children and loved ones.

Year after year Cicely had seen kids from her school, some even close classmates she considered somewhat-friends, live on television, trying their hardest to survive in there. She had prayed for them, but in the end, none of them had made it out alive again.

In fact, the last time someone from district 11 had won, was when Cicely's parents themselves were teenagers.

So it was no surprise that everyone in District 11 seemed to get anxious with the Reaping coming up, you could practically sense all the bitterness, hatred and anxiety in the air.
They were all either worried about their family, friends or themselves.

Cicely was no exception to that and her new nightmares proved that point.

What she didn't know, was, that they would turn out right and she would be the one to end up in the Hunger Games this year, fighting to stay alive.
