Jax's POV

I woke up from a heart dropping scream. Phoenix! I push myself out of the bed. I know from experience that you're not supposed to hold someone who has a nightmare. This is horrible. But I can't leave her feeling like she is alone. I grab her flying arms and yell, "Phee! It's fine! You're safe! You're with me! Wake up, please!" Her eyes beautiful eyes  flew open. I pull her into my arms, hugging her, trying to make her feel safe. She was panting, trying to catch her breath, but was failing.

She tried to pull of her shirt, "Hot! Hot!" She yelled trying her best to pull off her shirt. I didn't want her to feel uncomfortable but she did feel hot.

"Phee, I'm gonna take your clothes off, okay?" I asked first. She didn't say anything except, "hot!" I pulled off her shirt and she flopped back on the bed. She tried kicking her pants off but wasn't very successful. I unbuttoned her pants and unzipped them and yanked them off her. I looked away as she was only in her underwear and I didn't want her thinking I was thy type of guy. She grabbed my arm and pulled my down on the bed beside her and laid herself on my chest. I laid perfectly still.  She soon fell asleep and I carefully pulled her off of me and laid her in the bed by herself.
I didn't have anything else to do so I grabbed the book.

Vladimir's brother, Prince Orion, and his sister Princess Estrella were the children of the King and Queen. Prince Orion was the second oldest. And the Princess was the third to be born. Vladimir, at an early age was schooled in the manners of young prince, a king to be. He was also trained by his father and uncle to fight and protect.  As he grew, Vladimir had many women swooning for him, but the young prince was raised as a gentleman. His mother, the Queen, was very picky and precise with who was worthy of her sons love. Many women of the kingdom swooned over the oldest prince and many tried to gain his attention through harlot styles. It is said the prince was never drawn to anyone of the kingdom.

The queen, known as The Dark One, expanded her search for a suitable match for her young prince. Princess after princess filled the castle walls. The Dark One, was known for harsh tests that the princess had to pass in order to meet her son. Few passed. The only one to pass was a princess from another kingdom. She claimed to love the prince and the prince loved her. They were to marry but the prince claimed the night before the marriage he wasn't in love.

His parents had him host more parties to find a wife. Of course, he wasn't seen after his parities and disappeared. "-Jax ..."

I looked up from my book. Phee was shaking, messing with the blankets. "Hey-hey ... shh ... it's fine." I got up from where I was sitting. I reached out for her and pulled her from the blankets that had her trapped. I whispered sweet things in her ears trying to calm her down and let her just cry and get it out.

I've never seen her so ... terrified. Sure she's had horrible nightmares before, from what she has told me, but never have they caused her so much pain. She's had dreams about her dad and her family ... even ones with me ... but I'm extremely worried for her. I laid her in my lap and played with her hair as she cuddled my chest.

A lot of the guys I know would run in the opposite direction once they see tears but I embrace them. It shows you're human unlike my fa- ...

I love Phoenix. I know I shouldn't love her but everything about her makes me love her more and more every passing day. Her laugh ... her smile ... her shyness ... her dorky nerdy self ... everything. She was like no other girl I've ever met. I wish I could just tell her but I know can not. I love her too much to put her through the pain of my life. And her step father would kill me and possibly try to force Phee out of her home. He said so once ... but that was unimportant at the moment.

"Jax-y c-can we ... can you ... we need to open that box ..." she sighed getting out of my lap. She was still shaky and wobbled a bit but grabbed my hand and slightly pulled. "I ... I need t-to find ... to find out the truth." She retrieved the box that Genevieve gave us. She sat it on the bed and held my hand. Her hands were shaking still.

"We don't have to do this quite yet, Phee. Only if you want to do this." I told her. She closed her eyes and made a quick shaky nod. She squeezed my hands like she was reassuring herself.

I helped her slowly open the box.

Inside was another painting. A map. An envelope. And a necklace with three rings on it. Like wedding bands ...

Phee picked up the necklace and started to shake uncontrollably. She looked sad.

What happened to her in her dream to cause this much pain?
