The air around Kattegat filled your lungs as you breathed in the scent of roasting animals, high smoke, and melting iron.
A high thought was on your mind, training. It's what you were in desperate need of, even if it had to be from Ivar, someone who you trusted.

You walked to his hut with you head held high, he intimidated you some times, even if he was a cripple, he had a tendency to get angry very quickly.
"You need it." You thought. The gods will thank you for it, in the end.

"Ivar?" You crept in. He was seated, back faced your way, with his head down and the repeating sound of a loud banging rang in your ears.

"Ivar!"

"Can't you see, I'm busy!" He shot back.

You scoff. "Yes, I do have eyes."

"Then maybe they aren't working very well. I am busy y/n."

But you didn't care. He was just trying to find a way to ignore you.
You stormed your way in and faced him, taking the axe from his hands.
"Y/n! What do you want."

You sigh, "train me."

He scoffed and picked up his axe again, but you stopped him, forcing your hand on his. "I'm...serious, Ivar."

He looked down, and admired how soft you hands were and smirked. "What's in it for me hm?"
"What?"

"What's my reward?"

"You've got to be kidding me," you replied rolling your e/c eyes.

But he just kept that grin plastered on his face, and you couldn't help but smile back, jokingly.

"Alright, what do you want?" You ask.

Ivar got closer, dragging his legs along with him. "I want a lot of things from you, y/n, but most I can not have."

It was a tense moment you could say, there had always been something between you and Ivar that no one really  understood, one that would sometimes allowed you to feel closest to him more than anyone, even your own father. Feelings that sometimes even made his brothers jealous, especially Sigurd.

"You could've asked any one of my brothers to train you. Why choose me? A cripple." He questioned looking down.

You lowered your head to his level, and squeezed his hand. "Because I feel that your brothers don't know as much as you do. They don't have the mind that you do. And, I trust you."

"In that case, I want a kiss."

Ivar had got you multiple times, but you retreated, spiking him a few times. It was quick and considered of no thought.

"Don't think, just act." He swung toward your abdomen allowing you to jump back in reflex.

"What type of advice is that!?" You heaved.

He swung again, "Advice that won't get you killed."

He lifted himself back on his tree stump and picked up a shield.

Your axe bounced off his shield causing you to loose a trip of your balance.

"C'mon, girlie." He laughed.

You hit his shield again, this time, a little harder. Once it was stuck, you yanked it out of his hands and hit him with it, knocking him off his tree stump.

He rolled over on his back with a wince.
"Ow." He shouted. But you just chuckled and swung yourself on top of him. Grabbing his cheeks with your sore hands, you pressed your lips against his with no hesitation.

It was a long kiss that drew his hands to your back.

Once you pulled away, you still had his warm cheeks in your palms, "Don't ever call me girlie."

Ivar sat up on his elbows and laughed. "Something I'll have to remember."

You rolled over in the grass, staring up the gloomy grey sky.
You were out of breathe, and ached all over, but didn't mind.

"You know," Ivar began, "we should kiss more often."

"Hm, maybe." You responded with a chuckle.

"Wait, really?"
