Y/n sat cross legged as she could hear the soft wind blowing through her small village. She could sound out light water droplets falling from the roof from previous rain.
There was little loud sound as her mother sat, sewing rapidly, oblivious to her surroundings and mumbling quotes from the Holy Bible. Y/n wanted to go outside, and breathe some fresh air, after being trapped in her village for a long period of time. So she tried to make up excuses to go out.
Suddenly, her father began coughing, taking small, wheezing breaths between each cough. She looked over, eyeing the blood stained blood cloth he used to cover his mouth.

"Your out of water." Y/n said, standing "let me go get you some more."

"No! Don't go outside!" Her father snapped. Y/n immediately sat back down and sighed.
"What's out there anyway!"

"Bad men, bad men, bad men." her frightened mother mumbled, "may god spare us."

"What is god going to do?" Y/n scoffed.

Y/n sulked in her chair, sighing to herself. And that's when she got up.

"I just want to breathe a little." Y/n opened the door, instantly feeling the small rush of freedom.

"No Y/n!" Her mother screeched.
But it was too late, she was frozen at the sight of large men trotting down the hill and into her tiny village. Her father yanked her away and slammed the door with such force, it almost broke. The sounds of frantic screams and loud laughs from the 'bad men' echoed outside her door, just hanging by a thread.

"Quick, the chamber, now!"

Yet again, too late

Two, broad men barged in with swords in their hands, their eyes directly shot to Y/n.
Y/n's father watched their glances and quickly leaped in front of her, "No! Back away!"

They both exchanged grins.

One of the men was eyeing her particularly, seeming to not ever look away. He was shorter than the other one, with hair falling straight over his tattooed face, followed by a pointy beard and a motionless expression. She stared into his deep, twisted eyes and gave him a merciful look.

"You," the man pointed to y/n, who froze with fear in response, "come with me." Y/n hesitantly obeyed and was trapped in the mans grip.

"Souvenir, Halfdan?" The other man chuckled.

"She's...pretty, Harald."

Halfdan evilly looked at Y/n's parents before turning to the other man; "kill them."

And y/n was yanked away from her parents, the life she once had, the farm, her sister in England, all faded like a distant memory as she saw the men pillaging homes and killing everyone in sight. Yet looking back upon that moment while the whole village fell silent.

Halfdan had taken Y/n  to their camp ground that were surrounded by hundreds of other men like him. Wielding shields, swords and axes.
Y/n sat on a small tree log, in front of a blooming fire, while despondent thoughts rolled through her head. Other men had sent her passing stares and glances, that would even make Halfdan slightly irritated.

  "Your name i-is H-Halfdan?"

He nodded.

"What is yours, pretty one?" He asked.

"Y/n."

He smiled, "well Y/n, you'll get over your parents, don't worry. And that man back there was my brother, Harald Fine Hair."

"What are you?" Y/n spat out.

"I am Viking."

"Why didn't you kill me?"

"I said....you're....pretty."

Y/n's hands folded in the lap of her hand-stitched dress.
She didn't know these men, or want to be here, god knows what would become of her. And if she was to escape, she was going to have to cooperate.

So, I wrote this in like 20 minutes, so sorry for poor editing.
