Chapter 12

*Katniss' POV*

Well, after we seperated from Tris and Peeta, Tobias and I joined the small group of people gathering along the edge of the woods.

Since the morning sickness has passed, I feel better, but a lingering guilt has stuck to me since Tris said what she did to me before she went downstairs. I know I need to tell Peeta, and I know that it's the right thing to do, but I'm just not sure how he will respond.

We both decided that we didn't want kids until we go our life settled here... but he always said he did want kids...

"Katniss, is that alright with you?" I hear a voice ask me, and I just nod my head, not really knowing what I was agreeing to. I watched as the, now larger, group of people dispersed, going seperate ways into the woods. I looked to my left and right to see a small group of people looking at me with curious glances.

"Uhm.. what are we doing.. I really wasn't paying attention." I say, feeling a bit guilty.

A blonder haired guy who looks to be in about his mid-twenties steps to the front of the group, pushing his glasses back onto his face.

"Well, you and Tobias are the closest things to leaders we have, but I will be guiding the group. You are more like supervision.. and protection.." He says, shuddering at the last part. It's almost like we are babysitting these people.

"Wait, protection?" Tobias asks from beside me. He is speaking for the both of us, because I was actually wondering the same thing.

A teenaged girl walks to the front of the group, her bright red hair pulled into a sleek ponytail on the top of her head. She crosses her arms across her chest, and looks Tobias and I up and down before grinning slightly.

"Oh, it's really nothing big. The occasional bear, sometimes an unknown species, but it really doesn't occur very often.." Her eyes soon get wide, and her mouth forms an odd shape. "Where are my manners?! I'm Lilac, and that dweeb right there is my brother Lucas, but we just call him Luke for short." She nearly shrieks, making me smile slightly at her energy.

Yeah, my hormones are out of whack, because normally I find people like that really annoying.. to much like the Capitol... I shiver, and Tobias extends his hand.

"Well, you obviously already know Katniss and I, so would you mind introducing us to the rest of our group, Lilac?" He asks politely. She smiles widely, and nods her head, walking over to bring the rest of the group forward.

There are about three left that haven't been introduced, and I am very eager to know their names.

"This here is Alexander, he is a bit of a flirt, so watch out.." She whispers the last part, pointing to a very tall boy with curly brown hair. As soon as he catches my eye, he winks, making me cringe. I immediatly turn back towards Lilac, and wait patiently for her to introduce the other two.

"These two here are the twins, and we normally just call them that. This one," She says pointing the petite girl with straight purple hair,"This is Kaylanna, but we call her K for short." The small girl steps forward, shaking my hand briefly before stepping back to where Lilac is standing.

"And this brat is named Kashton, but since we call Kaylanna 'K' we just call him Ashton." She says, patting the 6 foot something boy on the stomach. He chuckles, and puts his hand out for me to shake.

"Thank you for that lovely introduction, Lilac, but we really need to get going. I'm already getting coordinates to scout out.." Luke says, tapping his foot impatiently. Lilac hits his arm slightly, mumbling something to him. His face turns red, and he nods, beginning to walk towards the open woods.
