Chapter 9

"How can you be here?"
"I always said. I will always be in your heart. I never left."
"But how? I need you right now daddy." I said, feeling a tear trailing from my eye.
Dad touched where my heart is. He pulled me into a hug, but I felt nothing. His arms wrapped around me, but with no grip.
"Cold words hurt. I found that out whilst talking to your mother."
"Is mom okay?" I asked.
"Yes. She is looking over you, as am I."
"Well, I need you. Can you bring her back down?"
"One does not summon a soul. We come when we are needed. I thought it was I you needed. You never really connected with your mother did you?"
"Not really." I said, reflecting and regretting not talking to her much. "When you see her, tell her I miss her."
"I don't see much of her now, Clo."
"Why?"
"Where I am is a very complicated place."
I smiled and laughed a watery laugh.
"Connor left me. For Jasi."
"I know. You see everything up here."
"Well. You have a point."
"Where's Lucille?"
"In the next room."
"Bring her to me."
I did as dad asked and fetched Lucille. I walked with her in my hand, but dad didn't see her again. He left before I got back. For good? Hopefully not...
