(AN: we sure are doing tons of Jihan rn oh well im sorry we'll get back to jicheol soon maybe)
Jeonghan's eyes popped open. He woke in a cold sweat. He wanted to go to the bathroom to wash his face, but he needed help getting out of bed, so he stayed. He looked over at his phone and pressed on the home button. It was 4:51 AM. He sighed and tried to fall back asleep. He closed his eyes, but his nightmare kept replaying in his head. It was the one that haunted his 14 year old self. Jeonghan was ten in it. He remembered that he had a fever. His parents were extremely worried about his high temperature that they put him in the car to drive him to the hospital. His father drove. He remembered that he started groaning and crying from the fever. His mother told his father to hurry up and then a truck came from nowhere. A flash of light. He remembered waking up in a white bed. Unable to move. Everything was dark around him and all he could hear were voices telling him his parents were dead because of him. Jeonghan felt his heart quicken. He cleared his throat and tried to calm down. He heard his mother's last words, "Jeonghan, we'll be there soon, I promise. I'm so sorry." Then his father's, "It's okay. We'll be okay. We're always okay." He felt his right hand grab at his chest.
"It's okay. We'll be okay. We're always okay."
"It's okay."
Jeonghan could feel tears slip down his face. He tried to remain silent, but Jisoo woke up to the sound of Jeonghan sniffling.
"Are you okay?" Jisoo asked, not opening his eyes yet. Jeonghan tried to respond, but the words were caught in his throat.
"We'll be okay."
Jisoo, feeling a bit worried, opened his eyes and with the minimal light of the city that slipped out from behind the curtains, he saw his boyfriend, clutching at his chest, tears running down his face, unable to talk.
"We're always okay."
"Jeonghan! Are you okay?" Jisoo turned over to face Jeonghan.
"Jeonghan, we'll be there soon, I promise. I'm so sorry."
Jeonghan grabbed at Jisoo's arm and tried to calm his breathing.
"Jeonghan, we'll be there soon."
"Jeonghan," Jisoo softened at the image of his Jeonghan crying and reaching for him.
"I promise."
"Tell me what's wrong," Jisoo whispered, helping Jeonghan sit up and gathering him in his arms.
"I'm so sorry."
"She promised. She promised we'd be there soon," Jeonghan muttered, putting his arms around Jisoo's neck and grabbing at his shirt.
"Who did?" Jisoo, who was running on three hours of sleep still hadn't caught up.
"Mom promised. Dad said we would be okay," Jeonghan sobbed, his tears dampening Jisoo's shirt. Jisoo knew that Jeonghan would never talk about his parents. He only talked about them after they were dating for three months. All of their friends knew about what happened, but they never pushed him to go in depth. It was a hard topic for him.
"I know, I know, shhhh," Jisoo started petting Jeonghan's head softly.
"They all started blaming me. Auntie and uncle wouldn't talk to me anymore. They said it was my fault," Jeonghan said, hugging Jisoo tighter. Jeonghan didn't know what came over himself.
"It wasn't your fault. It was never your fault," Jisoo blinked away tears, starting to rock Jeonghan.
"They said things about me," Jeonghan whispered. His boxers rode up a bit to show a long scar on his right hip. Jisoo saw it and he knew that Jeonghan would hate for him to point it out, so he stayed silent about it. He had never seen it before.
