Without warning, Jihoon's birthday had rolled around. Everybody was busy preparing for this semester's finals, which were in 2 weeks before remembering their shortest friend's birthday was in 2 days. Jihoon was out visiting his brother, so that left Mingyu and the other 10 trying to study, but mostly complaining, before Mingyu screamed.
"HOLY FUCK WHAT'S THE DATE?" Mingyu screamed, looking at his phone.
"Are you dense? It's the 20th. Fuck. The 20th. The 22nd is in 2 days. Oh fuck," Seungkwan felt his heart drop.
"Shit," Jisoo breathed, looking up from his laptop for the first time in an hour. Everybody knew. They forgot about Jihoon's birthday. The air felt heavy, like how it does when your Science teacher hands out your exam and you're like fuck it I can't possibly do any worse but you still really want that average and honour roll.
"What the fuck do we do now?" Chan stared at the elders. He was the youngest, so he knew Jihoon wouldn't mind but his 11 asses of hyungs would get guilt tripped so badly.
"Um, we pull some shit together, like how we did in senior year for the end of year assembly. Everybody be extra nice, that includes you, Soonyoung, and we will go to dinner. Let's go to that one place where we always go and we'll get him a cake. Then, we can come back and he can open his gifts. We did that last year," Mingyu pointed out, making a separate group chat just for the birthday. Everyone murmured amongst each other and agreed.
"Okay, gifts," Jeonghan suddenly stood up and brought out a white board from the closet.
"Do we even own that?" Soonyoung squinted at the board.
"No, I just keep it here for educational purposes," Jeonghan shrugged and Seungkwan rolled his eyes at his friend's extra ass.
"Anyways, who has a gift already?" Jeonghan brought out a dry erase marker (from his pocket?).
"I have a sweatshirt for him and I was going to get him something else," Seungcheol raised his hand. Jeonghan suddenly became a Socials teacher writing down ideas.
"Okay, good. What's the other thing?" Jeonghan said, writing Seungcheol's gift down in neat writing for once.
"Undecided, but I have another idea for a gift, but I won't share it with your sporky asses," Seungcheol sniffed before leaning against the couch. Everyone shrugged.
"Anyone else?" Jeonghan asked the crowd.
"I thought ahead a month ago and bought him some new headphones," Mingyu raised his hand and Wonwoo ruffled his boyfriend's hair. Wonwoo loved when Mingyu's eyes sparkled like a child, like how they were now. Mingyu leaned back into Wonwoo's shoulder.
"Good, good, I, Yoon Jeonghan, am a man free of sin, for I have boughten him a gift. Unlike the rest of you lazy fucks. I bought him a hoodie because he likes collecting them for some reason?" Jeonghan shrugged before he heard the door unlock, which prompted for him to use his sleeve to erase everything and stuff the board back in the closet.
"Hey, guys?" Jihoon walked in to see all 24 eyes on him.
"Creepy fucks," Jihoon muttered, setting down some drinks for the others. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief as Jeonghan stuffed the marker back in his pocket. (No idea how it fits it just does)
"By the way, how's your brother?" Mingyu tried to bring the feeling in the air back to normal. Seungcheol patted the empty spot next to him and Jihoon crawled to sit next to his boyfriend. Jihoon was now more comfortable with his boyfriend and leaned into Seungcheol's chest.
"He was pretty good. He's in his first year of med school. I met his girlfriend. She assaulted me with hugs saying I was adorable," Jihoon pouted at the ground.
