Ok so just for today cuz why not we're gonna attempt a one shot (I apologize in advanced lmao) (also 'let's try smth different' isn't the title of the story if any of you were wondering... you weren't? ok)
You watched the young boy from afar, his freshly dyed brown hair was being tousled in the wind. It was the same routine every day you sat at the back of your middle school classroom focusing on the boy in front of you rather than the lecture being given by the teacher, he on the other hand never spared a glance back at you. When the loud bell rang through the classroom every one of your classmates would rush to go claim a spot on the swings, you on the other hand pretended to clean up your desk only so that you could stare at the boys face a little longer. The boy wasn't allowed to go outside during recess, the dirt brought up when the others ran simply was too much for his body to handle. You once tried to stay in and keep him company but the teacher led you outside urging you to go make friends. After school you would follow him, he always returned to the same spot every day after school, under the willow tree in a nearby park. He never noticed as you sat down a few feet away from him, he pulled out his book and read till the sun started to set, then he would get up and return home.
At school he was always quiet he never talked to the other kids, in fact all the other kids made fun of him for having to lug around a tank of oxygen wherever he went. You wanted to talk to him but whenever you got near him he seemed to inch away, after a while you gave up and just settled on watching afar. Today was just like every other day, you watched him examining his every feature, your eyes followed the path that the tubes from his nostrils led to the heavy oxygen tank he carried on his back. How hard it must be to have to deal with not only health problems but also bullies at school, you felt bad that he couldn't defend himself he didn't even try to.
"Why do you always have to wear those stupid tubes to school? And why are you always wearing that stupid looking back pack filled with air?", one of your classmates snickered using his finger to apply pressure on the boy's forehead.
You watched as he simply just turned his head and left, you wanted to help but why couldn't any words leave your mouth? You followed him to his usual spot under the willow tree, sitting down you expected him to pull out a book as usual but instead he laid down and stared up at the sky. You were confused at first until you heard quiet sobs coming from his still figure.
"Mom... Dad... can you hear me from up there...", he whispered, it was barely audible and it left you in shock you've never heard him speak before.
"Tell me why'd you have to leave me? Why'd you have to let me face this world by myself? With no one to love me?", he sniffled bringing his hand up to wipe at his face.
Once you heard that you got up and went to sit next to him. He flinched when he saw your crossed legs come into view.
"Who are you?", he asked looking up at your face.
"I'm Lee Sohye your classmate, you know the girl that sits behind you. I've never heard you speak before.", you whispered smiling down at him.
"Oh um. Pretend you never heard anything ok.", the boy said about to get up and leave.
"Wait but you haven't even told me your name.", you said pouting.
"You wouldn't care either way, I mean no one really wants to get to know the kid with health issues anyways", he continued looking up at the sky again.
"What are you talking about I want to get to know you, what's your name?", you've always waited for the moment that the mysterious boy would finally open up to you.
"Kim Namjoon", he stated before getting up and leaving.
From that day on you made it your mission to get the quiet boy to talk again. You wanted to become friends with him and let him know that he did mean a lot to you. The next day at school you asked the young girl sitting next to Namjoon if she would like to switch seats with you. You found it sickening that she had the nerve to actually thank you saying that she hated having to sit so close to Namjoon and his large oxygen tank.
"Good morning Namjoon!", you chimed and happily placed your little black backpack on the ground next to his chair.
"What are you doing shouting my name for everyone to hear?!", the boy exclaimed waving his arms to emphasize his words even more.
"I'm sorry", you whispered back with a smug smile plastered on your face.
"Woah look guys Namjoon finally talked and he sounds like a frog!", a girl wearing pigtails exclaimed causing the whole class to break into laughter.
"Hey guys would you grow up we're in middle school start acting more mature won't you!", you scolded the crowd of students, you've been wanting to say this for a while now but never found the courage to actually do it.
"What are you doing sit back down why'd you defend me now everyone's going to hate you to. And I don't want my first friend to get hurt... that is if you want to be my friend- I mean I-i would totally understand if you didn't want to be my friend", he nervously whispered rubbing the back of his neck.
"Really you want to be friends!", you were surprised not only by the fact that he considered you his friend but you were also his first.
The school day was passing quickly, Namjoon was actually quite an interesting person with a great sense of humor.
"Um you can just drop me off here bye!", you decided to walk Namjoon home today.
"But this is a fish market where's your house?", you questioned straining your neck to find any signs of a living space nearby.
"Um... this is my house...", he lowered his head in shame.
"It is?!", he grew even more embarrassed when you seemed surprised by what he said.
"Ever since my parents... well passed away I was forced to help out my grandparents at this fish market", he answered before waving good bye and putting on an apron.
"Goodbye Namjoon! I'm sorry for making you feel bad by the way I didn't mean to sound rude", you apologized laughing awkwardly.
"No problem get home safe ok Sohye", he giggled watching you walk out of sight before turning around to help his grandfather out at the cash register.

The two friends happily skipped to school together hand in hand. Arriving at the their class room they walked in smiling and giving a greeting towards their teacher.
"Ew are you two dating or something", the girl with pigtails asked in disgust.
"No we're just best friends is there a problem with that?", Sohye challenged letting go of Namjoon's hand.
"It's ok just sit down", Namjoon begged dragging Sohye towards her seat.
For the rest of the class period Sohye sat bothered at the fact that everyone despised Namjoon. Soon enough the bell rang and everyone as usual ran out to claim a spot at the swing set, you on the other hand stayed in with Namjoon despite what the teacher had instructed you to do.
"Thanks for being my friend but remember to take care of yourself as well"

Yes? No? Ok you can pretty obviously tell we got lazy towards the end but ya we attempted a oneshot today. I think it turned out decent but ya. (trying to be more positive so ;D but honestly Idk why I gave Namjoon health problems)
