Josh's POV

Today is the sixteenth of January, and Maya's 18 birthday. We had been together about a month and she was letting me take her out for dinner with my parents. This would be our first time out with my parents since we got together, and I could tell she was nervous.

"Baby, don't be nervous." I said as I wrapped my arms around her from behind, as she slid her bracelet on. After I asked her out, she bought us matching bracelets. My one says Someday and her one says Long Game. She bought us them to show how serious she wanted to be. I know it seems silly, but I thought it was cute.

"Josh, you don't understand. I need your parents to like me." She said as she got out my grip and started to pace the room.

"Maya, they do like you." I smiled warmly.

"No, they like Maya; their grandchild's best friend, not Maya; their youngest son's girlfriend. Not to mention the fact that they found out we were dating on Facebook. How do they even know how to work it, no offence obviously. We should've told people before we I changed my status, I was just so excited." I pulled her into a hug to try show her it's okay.

"What's the difference, they're both the same person. I'm glad we're together. I couldn't stop thinking about you. I would've updated my status but I never had time with my friends asking why I hadn't and I wanted, want to always be with you." She ran her fingers through my hair as I spoke.

"I'm even more glad we're together. It took you long enough for you to ask." She giggled making me smirk at her.

"I'll change my status if you really want me to. Don't get me wrong, I'm in this for life. Life is the long game after all." She pulled out of our hug and smiled at me.

"You don't need to do that for me, Boing." She walked over to her closest to pick out an outfit for dinner.

"Maya, you don't need to try so hard. Everyone loves you for who you are. Please be yourself, for me?" I sat on her bed.

"Ugh, you know I'll do anything for you."

After she got changed into something less fancy and more her, she sat down on her chair next to do her make-up which she never does.

"Hey, what are you doing?" I said as I grabbed the make up brush from her hand and put it on the table.

"Putting make up so I actually look decent and presentable in front of your parents." I stopped her before she continued.

"You are the most perfect human being, you don't need to hide your beautiful with a bunch of tacky cosmetics. Other than being yourself, the only thing I ask is take your make up off. Without a doubt you're perfect and pretty beautiful." She just looked at me.

"Do you think they'll mind if we're late?" She looked at her watched, "About fifteen minutes."
