After asking a few clueless idiots where my classroom was, I manage to navigate my way to a relatively big room. Theres already around 10 people sitting on the desks when I walk in, but they all stop talking as I approach a small group of them.
"Erm...hi. I'm Naomi, Naomi Becksan, the new girl." I stutter, politely. One girl stares at me, chewing her gum like a horse. Theres a couple of boys that are smirking at me and looking my body up and down as if I'd just announced I was going to strip to my underwear; perverts.
Dicks. All of them. They can all see I'm standing here awkwardly and nobody is making an effort to communicate with me. How embarrassing.
"Hi Naomi!" One girl from the back of the classroom pipes. I move around the arrogant group of teens that have just humiliated me and glide into a seat at the back of the class.
"Hi, they always that rude?" I ask my new friend when everyone starts talking again. "Yup! They're always like that, arrogant and cocky. I'm Indi by the way." She beams, holding out her hand. I take her hand in mine and shake it.
I haven't touched any other humans except Tabs, Bell and my mum in 2 months. It feels nice to socialise.
"So you live local?" Indi questions me. "Kind of, about an hours walk. You?" I reply. Indi is pretty I notice, her short brown hair almost reaching her boobs. "Oh no, I get a bus. It's about a 2 hour drive to get here for me."
"2hours?! Wow that's impressive, you must have to wake up at..."
"6am, yeah it's tiring but I get used to it. I have to set my alarm for 5:30 though so I can lay in bed for half an hour to wake up." She jokes. I'm laughing at her when I know I did exactly the same thing this morning.
We idly talk about school for about 5 minutes while new strange faces fill the room. Indi is just telling me about her friends, Roz and Sam, when they walk in.
Roz is beautiful. She has extremely long bleached blonde hair and a lot of eyeliner. A lot. Sam is just as gorgeous with her short pastel pink hair and light makeup. I realise as they sit down in front of Indi and I, that these three girls are about to be my new best friends.
New.
I'm not replacing her am I?
I can't think like this. I'm not replacing Caity. I need to move on. Stop thinking of her Naomi.
"Hi Naomi, I'm Roz. My full name is Roxanne Jay if that matters." Roz introduces, rather unenthusiastically. "Hello! I'm Sam! Sam Teasdale." Sam happily recalls. She seems a much more bubbly person.
Sam flashes me a final smile before spinning round in her seat and pulling a book from her bag. "Let me guess Sammy, unfinished homework?" Indi smirks. "Unstarted!" Sam laughs as she scribbles away in her notepad.
I swear that's not even a word but I don't question the intelligence of my new "buddies."
Indi and Roz shake their head at Sam and laugh, when the teacher walks in. It's amazing how fast everyone sits in their correct seat when a teacher walks into a room.
I straighten my ponytail as my teacher sits at her desk. I have to make a good impression.
This is only registration. After this I have to toddle around this huge building to have maths, physics, English, French and chemistry. I need a map.
The teacher begins to call names out then reaches me. "Nah-omee?" She wrongly pronounces. "It's naomi miss." I correct her. I'm not expecting a welcoming party but at least a "this is Naomi she's just joined" speech. Nothing. The rude bitch just glances back at me, glares, then looks back at her computer.
I don't know what comfort I was expecting coming back to school, but right now I wish I'd turned my alarm off this morning and stayed in bed.
