Sometimes my brother can be very stupid. I mean, there are somethings that even a five year old should know. Like, no there is not gonna be a horse just standing around for us to take. I had suggested I could fly us out but Thor insisted it was a bad idea since he was mortal, while I wasn't. So a few hours later, we had no way of getting to where we wanted to go. And right now I was standing outside a store while Thor was asking the clerk for a horse. I had stopped long ago trying to help him. Thankfully, Jane came to our rescue, saving me from further embarrassment. "Do you still need a lift?" She asked when she pulled up in her van. I immediately got in, decided that Thor needed to do the following for once. I sat in the back while Thor sat in the front with Jane. I was surprised she had changed her mind. While I listened to their conversation, I found out that a group called S.H.I.E.L.D. had taken all her equipment and work away. "Who are you?" Jane finally asked. "Both of you." She added. Thor smiled, "You'll see soon enough." "You promised me answers." Jane insisted. I looked to Thor who glanced at me before responding slowly. "What you seek is a bridge." "Like an Einstein Rosen bridge?" "More like a rainbow bridge." Thor clarified and Jane gave me a questioning look. I nodded at her, confirming what my brother had said was true. Jane shook her head, "Gosh I hope you two aren't crazy." We rode in silence the rest of the way. By the time we reached the destination, it was dark out. Good. The more cover we had the better. Thor, Jane, and I crept to the top of a hill overlooking the crater. Jane peered through something that looked like a telescope but this had two lenses. "That's not a satellite crash! They would've hauled the wreckage away not built a city around it!" Jane exclaimed and I heard a hint of anger in her voice. Thor took off the jacket he was wearing and put it around Janes shoulders, "You're gonna need this." "Wait why?" Thor ignored her question. "Stay here. Once I reclaim Mjolnir, I will return the items they stole from you. Deal?" "No. Look what's down there. Do you think you're just gonna walk in, grab our stuff and walk out?" Jane said clearly with sass in her tone. "No, I'm gonna fly out. And my sister here is gonna fly in and out." Thor walked off leaving a bewildered Jane behind. She stared at me, "Did he just say.." "Yeah, I don't think I mentioned this before, but I can fly." I levitated off the ground and flew above my brother. I hovered upside down in front of him, "What's the plan?" "Basic infiltration and retrieval." He replied, gently shoving me out of the way. I flew high in the air to watch his progress. My job was to watch his back and take care of any approaching threats that I could. It started to rain and I smiled, this would give us some more cover. I kept my eyes glued on Thor as he made his way through the white tunnel. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a contraption lift someone into the air. The guy held a bow, with an arrow on the string. He was aiming at Thor. I waited to see if he would fire, but he held back. I saw Thor break out of the white tunnel, rolling over someone. He was fighting a guard. I wanted to help him but didn't know how. I decided to fly over to the guy with a bow. "Are you gonna shoot him?" I said. The guy jerked, firing the arrow at me instead and I dodged easily. "Sir, we have an enhanced." He said to no one. He fired another arrow at me. I turned, snatching it out of midair. They guy looked at me in shock. I looked down for a brief second to check Thors progress. He had just dealt with the guard and now was approaching his hammer. I was distracted so the guy fired another arrow. Everything was in slow motion as looked up to see it hurtling towards me. I wished I could make myself smaller. A flash appeared in front of my eyes and I fell. The arrow missed me and I tried to stop holding my arms out. I swooped to the side and ran into the thing holding the guy in the air. What was happening to me? As soon as I stopped flapping my arms, I began to fall again. I flapped my arms again and I rose. I looked down at myself, and saw...feathers? I was a bird! So I could shapeshift now. Great. I shifted back to human form and hovered in front of the archer. His jaw had dropped. I heard an agonized yell and flinched. Thor! I looked down and saw him on his knees. He couldn't lift his hammer. He was no longer worthy. I flew down to him, landing beside him. Thor didn't even acknowledge my presence, he just stared at nothing. I was suddenly grabbed from behind. I started to fight back, but stopped when Thor didn't. He let the people take him.
A/N: I know it seems a little over board with how many abilities Verena has, but there is a reason for that. It will be revealed in one of the coming sequels 😉
