Chapter Ten

"So how was he?" Umeko asked Lina the next day.

Both girls were serving the customers their dishes and they chatted as they walked to the cash register.

"Can we not talk about this..." Lina blushed a storm as Umeko giggled, beating her shoulder.

"Well you teased me about Lord Nobunaga so it's my turn now to tease you about Mitsuhide!"

"Shh! Keep it down will you!" Lina pleaded though she know Umeko was just messing with her. "I don't want people to hear about it!"

"Hear about what?" Lord Shigezane grinned as his face appeared between both girls.

"Where did you come from?!" Umeko yelled as she and Lina jumped back in fright.

"Erm I've been here just only. Wanna pay for mine, Kojuro's and Masa's orders. I lost in a drinking match with them yesterday so yea..." Lord Shigezane replied in a depressed tone before his face lit up again. "So hear about what?"

"Ugh don't be a busy body Lord Date Shigezane!" Lina answered in annoyed tone as she rang up his orders. "And that'll be four thousand yen for all three of you!"

"Oh come on doll! Tell meeeee!!!" Lord Shigezane pleaded as Lina frowned but his collar was pulled back by Kojuro.

"Come on Lord Shigezane. Out you go." he sighed as he gave an apologetic smile to Lina.

"But wait I'm not-"

His voice trailed off as Umeko and Lina sighed.

"He hasn't paid yet has he?" Lord Masamune's deep voice interrupted both girls and Umeko gave Lina a knowing look before clearing her throat.

"I'll leave the two of you." she said quietly as she left to attend to customers...

"Yea... He hasn't paid yet..." Lina regained her composure and faced Lord Masamune.

Lord Masamune didn't answer but placed the amount of money to be paid..

"Than-..." Lina placed her hand over the coins but Lord Masamune placed his hand over hers.

"Seems like your friend knows about us." Lord Masamune asked in a low tone.

"Erm... Can you let go of my hand Lord Masamune?" Lina asked as her eyes darted nervously around the shop.

Lord Masamune noticed her discomfort and quickly did so.

"Does she know the whole story?"

Lina placed the money in the cash drawer and sighed before giving a nod.

"Yes Lord Masamune. She knows things didn't work out between us as you were too busy with your work and your mother disapprove of me."

"I told you don't call me that."

"Well we're not an item anymore." Lina snapped quietly but Lord Masamune ignored her tone.

"I did promise you once I get things sorted out we'll patch back."

"Well what have you sorted out?" Lina asked in annoyed tone. "Because if you're going to tell me that you have your work schedule sorted out well guess what Masamune? You still can't solve the fact that your mother disapprove of me! She just plain doesn't like me!"

"It's just your heritage she doesn't approve of. If you and her get to know-"

"Masamune. I can be born from a royal or a noble family and she still wouldn't like me! You saw how she treated me when you brought me home for dinner!"

"Well that's just one time."

"Masamune!" Lina snapped loudly.

All the customers stop to look at the two of them before Lina took a deep breath and bowed her head.

"Sorry Lord Masamune. I'm busy right now." Lina murmured and went to the kitchen in a haste to get away from him...
