Chapter Six
Getting caught in the moment
"Put me down this instant!" I shouted while laughing as Neville threatened to throw me into the small pond inside the hide-a-way we now claimed as ours. Once we left the village we made our way to the clearing where we rode the horses to the first day I had truly met him. There was pointless chatter until we got there and that's when things got started.
"It scared me so bad!" I shouted, hitting his arm. I was talking to him about this morning when I woke up to find Kyle next to me and not him.
"I knew he would be coming back, so when Marie came up to announce dinner to you she immediately saw me and said I should be going, it was getting to late, and to risky for me to stay any longer." I rolled my eyes at him.
"I thought you were under the bed or in the closet hiding from him once he came in..." I said, as we erupted into laughter. His eyes were dancing with joy as I grabbed his arm for support.
"Hiding under the bed? What, do you think I'm a mad man; why on earth would I do that?" He asked, taking a step closer, still laughing. I smiled to him, teasingly.
"...because you fancy me servant." I said, looking at his lips. He laughed as he leaned in closer to me; but instead of kissing me, he picked me up and threw me over his shoulder. I shouted, screaming almost.
"Put me down!" I whined, hitting his back with my hand. He just laughed even harder, making me vibrate on top of his rocking shoulders.
"Why on earth would you do that?" I asked, mocking hurt. I truly didn't know where Neville had run off to this morning, I hadn't much time to think of him lately either.
"Sorry, princess... you can't get everything you want!" He joked, walking closer to the water.
"I hope you're ready for a swim." He mumbled so low, I could barely hear it.
"Put me down this instant!" I shouted, thrashing in his arms. If he threw me in the water, I was going to be so mad! The grass was getting taller, but he still managed to make it to the water's surface.
"One..." He said. I laughed at him, but I was freaking out on the inside.
"Neville, don't you dare!"
"Two..." He said, laughing this time as he spoke it louder. I felt him start to move his body, getting ready to throw me in the water.
"Neville!" I shouted so loud, causing him to bark out in laughter again. I looked over at the water and noticed it was glistening in the suns reflection, almost looking inviting.
"Three!" He shouted, throwing me towards the water. I could still hear him laughing as I flew through the air, screaming on the way. I landed in the water with a splash, instantly getting soaked. My pretty green Victorian dress gained fifty pounds instantly.
"Neville!" I shouted, trying to stand up and march out of the water. He saw me running for him once I reached the grass; he tried to get off the ground from laughing to run away from me.
"Jane!" He mimicked in a girly voice. I couldn't help but laugh at him as I chased him around the clearing. Finally I jumped onto his back, getting him wet in the process as I wrapped my arms around his neck. He brought his arms under my knees keeping me in place.
"You smell like a wet horse..." He said, jokingly.
"At least I don't look like one." I said, hitting his shoulder and laughing quietly.
