Chapter Ten

To be a queen, you must act like one

After last week's scare, I knew Neville wouldn't be back anytime soon. I had gotten my hopes up thinking it would be Neville who was in my room, but they came crashing down when I realized it was only Kyle.

A full week of torture has passed, filled with the wedding planning, and random appearances to get the village excited. Things between Kyle and I were hard to get used to, but things were now falling into a pattern. In the morning Kyle would leave to watch my father run the castle and help do side jobs, while I planned the wedding and tried to keep a clear mind.

I haven't seen any servants at all, it had me wondering why I had been so busy lately, I'm sure it was my father's doing of course. Today was the rehearsal dinner. A couple other Royals who were invited to the wedding are coming over to watch us rehearse the wedding as a last minute relaxer. This should be easy, right?

"Lady Jane..." I heard a familiar voice whisper. I pulled the covers over my head and groaned, wanted just a couple more minutes to myself and relax before the day ahead.

"There's two weeks until you are married Jane, you should be getting use to the idea of waking up early." I pulled the covers off my head and looked up at the person who was harassing me.

"Marie!" I shouted, jumping out of my bed and hugging her like crazy. She laughed into my hug as she hugged me back.

"Where have you been? Where has everyone been! I haven't seen any servants this whole week!" I shouted, going over to my closet and grabbing a floor length ruby dress to change into. I was suddenly full of energy.

"Your father has us really busy, getting prepared for the wedding and all; it's only natural to have a crunch time." I walked over to my mirror and pulled my hair down to my side as I braided it.

"I can't wait for this to be over with..." I mumbled, looking at my reflection. I was surprised to see how much I have changed from stress. My eyes seemed dark, the bruises I had on my face were now healing up very nicely; although, I couldn't say the same for my mom. The next day after the whole incident my father said she was very sick and might be for a couple days. My heart clenched at the idea of how bad she must look.

"It will all be over soon." Marie said, smiling down at me. I gave her a small smile back before she exited the room. Two weeks, and I'll be married. It was unbelievable, unreal almost. I snapped out of my thoughts and took the note out of my vanity, reading it once again. I didn't expect him to be coming back; I think I was finally accepting that.

I stood from my chair and walked down to Aunt Abigail's room. I knocked on the door once before entering into it. She was sitting on the floor looking down at four dolls. Her room was a golden color, with a dark blue bed fit for a queen.

"Hello, Abigail." She looked up at me and smiled as she patted the space next to her. I sat down on the floor and looked at the dolls she had.

"This one is my favorite." She said, holding up a doll with pitch black hair and crystal blue eyes. She had on a light blue dress and had the cutest button nose.

"It's cute... but I still like Jane the best." I said, causing her to giggle. I've noticed I have been spending more time with my aunt, and even made a couple trips with her to Rochelle's house. The doll we gave her a couple weeks ago looked amazing and wonderful.

"Are you ready for the dinner?" She asked, standing up and putting the dolls in their cases.

"As ready as I'll ever be." I sighed getting up and walking over to her to help her put them away nicely.
