i walked up to the building that would soon be the start of my career. i smiled nervously, knowing that i had to do my best today to earn the part. it was the second part of my audition for season three of stranger things, one of the most popular shows in the world. i knew it would be challenging since a lot of other girls would also be here. or so i thought.
upon walking in, i saw a few people in the waiting room and more in line by the door. my mom looked at me confused.
"why isn't anybody here?" she asked me. i shrugged my shoulders as we continued to the front desk.
"good morning!" the lady at the front desk said cheerfully. "are you here for your audition?"
"yes," i said, nodding my head. i looked around, there were probably only twenty-five people in the building auditioning. "why are there so few people?" i asked.
"remember when you submitted your video of the audition? part one?" she asked me.
"yeah," i replied.
"well we received a lot of videos," she laughed slightly. "so we narrowed it down to about 150 girls, and they're all coming today at different times," she explained.
"oh, so how many people already auditioned?" my mom asked.
"about 60," she stated, "halfway there!" my mom laughed. "i'll call your number when it's time for you to get in line." she handed me a slip of paper with the number 69 on it. of course, i thought. 69. my mom took me to my seat, next to another nervous girl. i decided i'd make some friends to pass time.
"hi, i'm aria. what's your name?" i asked the girl with short, brown hair.
"i'm emily," she replied, smiling. "what number are you?"
"69," i told her, chuckling. "how about you?"
she laughed before answering, "68. i knew you were 69 because you were the next person to walk in. i wonder what finn and millie are going to think when you walk in."
"what? they're here!?" i asked, getting more excited and nervous. i'd be in the same room as the millie bobby brown and finn wolfhard.
"yeah," she giggled. "he tweeted that he was excited... for number 69."
"no," i said, in disbelief. "i don't believe you. he did not say that. nope, nope, nope." i pulled out my phone and opened twitter, looking up finn's user.
finnskata: milliebbrown who's ready for auditions? i know i am. number 69 better be the best. #noshame
"see?" emily said. "told ya."
"oh my god. no. i'm literally going to be the worst," i breathed.
"no you aren't. you're going to rock it, ar. here, we can practice," she said. we practiced for about ten minutes, until number 67 was called.
"finn just tweeted something," emily said, pulling out her phone. "and yes, i am a fangirl, and yes i have my notifs on." she read the tweet quickly and laughed. "oh my gosh," she showed me her phone.
finnskata: number 69 is getting awfully close. she is in the building. alert.
"frickle frackle," i muttered. one of my favorite actors, ever, was awaiting my arrival.
"do you have snapchat?" emily asked me.
"yeah, lemme add you." she added my user just as her number was called. "you got this em!" i yelled. i could tell we were going to be friends.
