Alter The Ending

"BMW rolled over a couple times on the highway."

That's the only thing I understood from the incoherent voices coming out of the people who ran to give first aid to the person on the gurney.

I didn't have to hear everything. As I walked slowly towards the commotion, I easily recognized who it was lying unconscious. His face bleeding from lacerations but apart from that, I can't really tell what his current condition is.

My whole body froze for a second before my doctor instincts kicked in. I knew I had to be a doctor first to face this situation before I could be the Phana to the Forth that I know, but I just couldn't help it.

Fear started to consume my whole being. A lot of what-ifs. A lot of whys. A thousand questions running in my head while walking hurriedly along with the people who are giving first-aid treatment to the only person who's been in my head the whole time since I met him again.

"We got this. Stay here."

I was held off by someone from the team before I could get near him which was a good idea, I think, because I knew I wouldn't be able to control myself. No matter how objective a doctor should be in treating patients, I just knew I couldn't be. Why he's Forth.

I told Pring over the phone about the accident. Our first conversation was cut off, so I knew she got very confused, so I called her again to explain what happened. I only told her what happened in the hospital because I knew she knows better than I do. They were together at the bar, so she could be the one who can explain to me what took place before the accident.

I grew more and more impatient as I wait for the update on Forth's condition. He could have a concussion, internal injuries and for sure he'll be in a lot of pain. I could only hope that there's no major damage to his brain.

If there's anything like that, I wouldn't know what to do. Just like any other person waiting around the ER, I kept pacing while squeezing my brain out as to why Forth would be in such a situation.

I am aware of the symptoms of traumatic brain injuries, and if luck were on my side, Forth could only experience loss of consciousness for a few hours and nothing more serious than that except of course the pain and the wounds he obtained which I know Forth would only treat as bragging rights for being such a punk.

"Pha! Pha!" somebody called me.

"Pring!"

I answered after I turned around and saw her running towards me. She gave me a tight hug so comforting yet so alarming. Pring can be emotional, and at this point, she has no idea yet as to how Forth is doing. After letting go of each other, she held my hands tightly and stared at me before asking,

"How's he doing?"

"They're still treating him. From what I saw, they did all the necessary procedures to make sure of his condition. They won't let me near him just yet." I explained.

"I hope he'll be okay." her voice a little shaky.

"Let's take a walk to ease you up a bit." Pring offered. She knew, although I never mentioned, how worried I am right now. Pring just knows me very well.

She started talking once we found a spot to sit in. I didn't have to ask any questions, for she could see in my eyes all the things I wanted to ask.

"First things first. Did you see him at the bar Thursday night?"

So Pring knows about that, too? I think I made the right choice being quiet about it.

"It wasn't a big deal for me." I replied.
