One time I was in my first period, which was an English class.
And like most days, I struggled to stay focused because of my ADHD. So I had moved to the back of the class to sit with my friend Sereniti so that we could quietly talk or whatever.
So, me being me, I had started to show her some memes on my phone, and so she did the same. We spent most of the class just swapping memes and giggling like idiots. And I had unintentionally did a full 180 in my seat, so now my back was facing the front of the room and the teacher. Which made it SUPER obvious that I wasn't paying attention at all. The teacher called on me and I turned around to see him, and pretty much the whole class staring at me, so my genuine first thought was "oh shit".
The teacher asked "Desiree, what was I just talking about?"
And for some reason my brain had decided "be 10000% honest and maybe you won't get in trouble" So I just kinda blankly said "I have no idea, I wasn't paying attention".
The teacher crossed his arms and said "Why is that?"
Without even blinking I said "because I have ADHD, and I get distracted easily."
You could hear a bunch of kids start laughing, and a few of them even said "Same", making even more kids start laughing. But my teacher had the most defeated look on his face, then, without saying anything else, he just quietly walked back up to the board and continued the lesson.
And the friend who was behind me didn't let me live that situation down for the rest of the year, and it kinda ended up becoming an inside joke between the two of us.
