Abby's P.O.V.
My drink was warm in my hands, despite the coldness I felt towards Harry, all the confusion, lies, everything. My mind was spinning in a complete mess. I took a sip out of my drink, trying to let the warmth relax me.
"Let's head back," I said, eager to not have to spend any more awkward time with Liam, even though he had taken the time out of his day to do this.
"Sure," Liam shrugged his shoulders and we both headed towards the door.
Through the clear glass windows was a guy with curly brown hair, rummaging through his wallet and pockets, seeming to be in search for his keys.
I pushed the door open and was about to ask if he needed help when the man pulled them out of his pocket and unlocked it his car, swinging the passenger's side door open, then slamming it again. In the reflection of the window, I saw the reflection of Harry's face.
I was speechless, my eyes unfixing for a second. Harry.
"Harry," I said to get his attention, but my voice cracked slightly and was silent.
It was then that the anger washed over me. A few seconds went by, and then he slowly turned around, like I was the cops holding a gun towards him and he just got caught stealing.
I pulled my hair that was in my face back behind my ear. My eyes scanned his body; he was still wearing the same clothes that he had had on when he left the hospital. To put it simple, Harry didn't look like Harry. His hair was long and gnarly and out of control. I looked him up an down, conflicting emotions in override. He wasn't kidnapped, but he seemed still like someone was controlling him from somewhere.
He was looking at me also, examining my entire body. Harry's face read with disgust, I knew I looked pretty bad, but not that Harry would notice. His eyes had worry engraved in them, like he actually cared how I was feeling in his selfish "vacation".
"Hey," He said pathetically, like nothing was happening and we were just picking up a conversation from any other day. I wanted to slap him, but wasn't close enough. My eyes started watering and I had to squint to keep from letting Harry and Liam see me fall apart.
"Harry, where the hell have you been?" I asked, my voice not even sounding remotely close to normal.
He completely ignored my question, trying to back up to get to his car, "Listen Abby, I can't explain this to you, or Liam. Just delay the payment."
What? He wasn't kidnapped, so of course I wasn't going to pay that ransom. But the fact that he wasn't going to come home and then get the nerve to ask me to delay the damn payment?
"How-" I started but was cut off by Harry's rushed voice as he started his car.
"Abby I need to go. Delay the payment. I love you." And with that he got into that god damned car and fucking drove off.
Watching him speed away, all the emotions were unbearable.
"What the fuck is happening?" I yelled, tears running down my cheeks.
Two hands pulled me away from the front of the door and to the side, twisting my lifeless body around into a hug.
The tears came out even more. "Why?" I asked into Liam, even though I knew he was just as confused as I was. His best friend was going behind all our backs doing who-knows-what.
I felt Liam's chest heave like he was breathing heavily to keep from crying.
"It's not your fault, Abby."
Tears were rushing down my cheeks in rivers.
"Liam, I still love him," I admitted. "Is that bad? After what he did to me?"
Liam pulled his head back, still holding me. Our eyes met and he hesitated, but his eyes told it all: yes it is.
He stayed silent, not saying anything.
"It's okay, you don't have to say anything." I said, relieving him from the chance of answering wrong.
We unlatched our hug, and I didn't even attempt to wipe the water from my face. It was then I realized that I'd dropped my coffee, just nearly missing Liam's coat and self. I giant puddle of the drink was splatted on the sidewalk.
Picking up the plastic cup and throwing it away, I told Liam, "I feel like this drink."
It got a smile from him, but it was a smile of acknowledgment, like 'yeah I heard you shut up'.
"Wanna head back?" Liam asked innocently.
"Yeah, I need to get my mind off of what just happened." I replied walking over to the car we had arrived in.
"You know we'll have to figure out what to do with that ransom," Liam reminded me before we got into the car.
"We should do that with the rest of the group later," I replied, lowering myself into LIam's car and buckling up.
Liam got in his side of the car, and I let my head fall to the back to the headrest, my eyes slowly closing as the scenery all around me moved past in a whirlwind.
Carina's P.O.V.
Bazinnnggg.
Bazinnnggg.
My eyes fluttered open, squinting, then blinking from the sunlight that was invading the hotel room. I reached out onto my nightstand, searching for my phone with no sight. Picking it up, I didn't even bother checking for caller I.D.
"Hello?" I asked groggily.
"Hey Carina! You're up!" Ryder's way-too-sarcastic voice blared from the other end of the line.
"Yeah, no. You woke me up, dork." He laughed and I rolled my eyes, fully awake now.
"So Louis told me to call and tell you that we're all meeting at Liam's today before you guys have to leave tomorrow, so get up and get your butt down here?" Ryder got to the point, but said the last sentence as a question, like he wasn't sure.
"Yeah, yeah." I said, pulling the sheets over to the other side of the bed.
"Hey Carina?" There were footsteps on his line, like Ryder was walking away from the guys.
"I'm still here, Ryder." I chuckled at his cuteness.
"How'd your date go with Nolan?" Ryder blurted, and I could tell this was serious.
I opened my mouth, but closed it again, trying to carefully choose my words, "It went good, he was very sweet."
Silence.
"Ryder?" I asked when there was no response. Nolan is his buddy right? He'd be okay with this arrangement? Unlike the boyfriends I had in high school, where Ryder would scare the shit out of them like he was my father.
More silence.
Finally, after a while, Ryder let out a breath, more like a sigh. "I'm happy for you guys. I got to go."
The line went dead. God damn it Ryder.
I was completely awake now, roaming around the room. It was a complete pigsty, on account of Abby and I were leaving soon.
Abby.
She would head back to the States with me a utter mess. Abby and the guys made this trip for Ryder and I to meet up again, but all we got out of it was a broken-hearted girl and Ryder and I in a "fight".
I don't even know anymore.
Like how did the guys even meet up with Abby? She said it was from some picture, but how did Nolan, Harry, Liam and Louis find out it was me without letting Ryder in at the time.
Ryder. Why didn't he ever call me? I knew for sure he had my number. If he wanted to meet up with me he could've easily called me and none of this would have ever happened.
All these questions and so little time, I just don't know anymore.
