"You're not going to school today."
"I wasn't going to go anyway."
"No," Jan sighed, "I need to keep an eye on you. I thought you got past this 'beat everyone up' phase. I don't-"
"You don't trust me."
Jan nodded, "I can't hide the truth. I want you to stay at home for the next few days- your grounded."
Keith asked, "For how long?"
"I haven't thought about it yet. Just... for how long I think you deserve to be punished."
Keith could barely nod in reply. He knew he did the right thing, but he couldn't stop feeling like he had betrayed Jan's trust. She looks at him with disappointment.
Jan looks around wearily, "Keith, if you see a weird boy- tell me."
Keith froze, "What?"
"I-I swear I saw something last night."
Jan stood up slowly. She only spared Keith a glance, before walking away. Keith sighed. His freedom had just gone out the window. Also, Jan is catching onto the fact Keith has this boy that is always around him. He was happy about the day off. He really didn't want to argue about it with Jan so her agreeing was one of the better things to come out of this.
Keith sighs as he also leaves the room. He, of course, heads to his room. As soon as he entered, he was met with the sight of Lance carrying around some of his books.
"What are you doing?"
Lance screamed at Keith suddenly speaking up. He dropped the books in shock. The anger on his face is evident, when he looks over at Keith.
"What," Lance breathed, "The HELL was that for?!"
"I was just asking you something."
Lance groaned, "Just... don't do that again."
"Okay then."
Lance sighed, before bending down and picking the books back up.
Keith raised his eyebrow, "Are you-"
"Cleaning your room?" Lance interrupted, "Yes, yes I am."
"Thanks, I guess?"
"Well it was an absolute tip in here, but Lancey Lance is here for the job!"
"Lancey Lance?"
Lance raised his finger at Keith, "Shhh Queef, I'm doing you a massive favour."
Lance walked over to Keith's disorganised- now organised- bookshelf.Keith looked around his room. He was thoroughly amazed at how clean it was. He never thought his room had the possibility of being this clean. Now it was just the challenge of finding everything Lance probably stored away in a place Keith would never look.
Keith sighed, "Why are you doing this?"
"Well duh," Lance rolled his eyes, "I'm trying to be nice."
"You, nice?"
"Shut up."
"But that's not nice."
Lance groaned, "In all seriousness, I meant what I said last night. I'm going to keep that promise and make you think, 'Hey, Lance is a pretty cool dude and I wanna be his best friend again'."
"You keep telling yourself that, Lance."
Keith sat on his, now made, bed. The book he started reading the other day was where he left it (good on Lance for not putting it away). He flicked through the pages of his book, while Lance continued to clean his room. Once the other had done, he launched himself onto the bed.
"Keith."
"What now, Lance?"
"Please read to me."
Keith let out a deep sigh. Ever since he said he told Lance he would read to him, the other just loved pestering about it. Anytime Lance caught him reading, he would ask Keith to read to him. It bugged Keith to some extent (not as much as Lance being fine about him reading from a book he knew none of the prior plot about- like who does that?), but seeing the other take interest was nice.
"Sure."

The reading session was quite peaceful. Lance only interrupted a few times, but it was mostly in wonder or sadness of what was going on. Hey, Keith can't blame him- the book he was reading The the Fall of Five (a book that had once ripped out Keith's heart).
It all came to an end, when Jan burst open the door.
"Keith!"
Keith groaned and looked up from his book, "Yeah."
"Your two friends are here."
"Two friends?"
"Yeah, a big dude and some small person."
Keith raised his eyebrow, "Hunk and Pidge?"
"So that's what they're called," Jan muttered, "No idea what they want."
"Can you send them up?"
Jan replied, "Since your too busy reading out loud to yourself, I guess I can."
"Thanks."
Jan looked around Keith's room, "Did you tidy up."
Keith gave Lance a side glance, "Uhh..." Lance gave him a thumbs up, "Yeah, I did."
"Keith," Jan smirked, "You better not be bribing me with a new side of you. You're still grounded."
"I presumed that..."
Jan rolled her eyes and headed out of Keith's room. Keith just closed his book and tried not to scream in relief. At least two people wanted to see him. Jan also seemed like she didn't want to rip of his had as much as he did.
Pidge was the first to come in. They full on Naruto-ran into the room while Hunk followed from behind.
"KEITH, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!"
Keith looked over at Pidge, in mild fear, "What?"
"You don't appear at school so we bug Mr Shirogane for an answer. And then he tells us he knows nothing other than the fact that, I dunno, you got into a flipping fight."
"Pidge," Hunk warned, "Calm down. You look like a distressed seagull."
"Look, guys," Keith looked at them, "I'm sorry."
"I knew you had some repressed anger issues," Pidge groaned, "But I did not know you could lash out like that."
"I was just standing up for what I believed what was right."
"That's cool bud," Hunk smiled, "But in the eyes of everyone else, a fight is a fight."
"I know..."
"Keith," Pidge replied, "Once all this anger from the situation bottles over, I want your side of the story."
Keith looked at her, "I don't think there's really anything that would defend me too much. I mean, I have no evidence I lashed out for a good reason."
"Okay," Pidge placed their hand on their chin, "Evidence or not, I'll probably believe you. Besides, I just wanna know why you were at a McDonalds that late in the night."
"Yeah," Hunk grinned, "Especially after you left my house, where, by the way, I fed you."
"I know, I know."
Keith smiled at them both. Did they care about him? They sure seemed to be showing some sort of affection. Also, for once, Lance seemed to look like he didn't want to rip their heads off. He was smiling along side them.

Heh. So, I kinda mentioned a book in this. I'm probably going to do that all the time Keith is reading in this. I just really like books and I'll just go back into my corner.
