The Unplanned Journey (A Pokemon Fanfiction)

Chapter 6

      "All right you guys, get over here. I have something for you" he said. "I need your right hands."

      We walked over and reached out our right hands. The carni stamped a pokeball on the back of my hand.

      "As long as you have this pokeball stamp everything in the fair is free, but once it wears off you have to start paying" he said.

      "All right! Well we only have like three hours until the fair closes for the day, so let's get going." I said to the other, walking toward the entrance.

      "I'm going directly to the ring toss. I'm gonna win me a pokemon egg." Layla said while running off in the direction of the ring toss.

       "I think I'll go to the dunk tank over there."Stephan said pointing.

       "I'll join you" James said following him to the dunk tank.

       After being left alone I decided to follow Layla to the ring toss. As I got closer I noticed that the other girl without a costume was also there. They were waiting for a third person so they could start the game.

      "Excuse me sir! Would you like to have the honor of being the third person in this fine and completely not rigged game of ringtoss? You each get three rings, three chances of winning the grand prize. This extremely rare pokemon egg!" he exclaimed lifting up the egg from behind the counter. 
    
      I noticed it was the same carni from the entrance.
     
      "Uh, sure, but I'm gonna win!" I said looking at Layla and the other girl.

       "Sorry I forgot your name. The guy behind the counter told me before but I forgot" Layla told her.

        "You don't need to know my name, but I'll tell you anyway so you won't forget it. My name is Lexi. My goal is to become the most powerful pokemon trainer. I don't have time for the likes of you" she said. "I've heard this egg contains a extremely rare and powerful pokemon. Once I win I intend to add it to my team ."

      "Okay... I asked for your name not your whole backstory but okay." Layla said under her breath.

      "I'm sorry, what was that?" Lexi said stepping towards Layla.

      "How about we just start the game" I said stepping in between them before anything happened.

      "Sounds like a good idea. The first person to toss a ring around the neck of a bottle wins" said the carni passing out three rings to each of us. "Three... Two.... One... TOSS!"

      I was really dumb and threw all three rings at the same time hoping for the best result, but they just bounced off  each other and fell to the ground. The bottles were so close to each other that it was almost impossible to throw the rings around the bottle.

      Lexi went next but all of hers fell to the ground immediately.

      "More rings, now!" She yelled at the carni and slammed her hand on the table. He handed her three more rings. She continued failing and demanding more rings.

       Layla was next and she almost made it but the ring slipped off at the last second. Her other two missed completely. As I walked off I heard her ask for more rings.
  
      "Gastly, come on out!" I yelled throwing a pokeball into the air. He floated up so he was face to face with me. "Let's go find something to do."

       We walked around searching for something to do when Gastly saw someone eating an ice cream cone. He floated over and tried eating the girls ice cream.

      "Gastly, no, don't do that!" I yelled but was too late. Gastly had already swallowed her entire ice cream cone.

     "Gastly really? Come on I told you no." I looked at the little girl and she had tears in her eyes.

     "I- oh no, wait please don't cry! Here!" I reached into my pocket and pulled out the twenty dollar bill my mom had given me "here, go buy all the ice cream you want.

     Her eyes lit up and she stopped crying. She took the money and ran off towards the ice cream stand. I looked at gastly.

     "You can't just do that bud. Especially if they're a stranger." I said to him. He looked at me with big sad eyes.

"Don't look at me like that. You know just had some." I said to him " besides we need to go find something to do."

     I looked around but didn't see anything interesting until I saw Stephan and James at the dunk tank.

     "Let's go see what they're doing gastly" I walk over to them followed by gastly.

     "Can I sit on the chair in the tank my good sir?" James asked the carni.

     "Well since you have a stamp I don't see why not. So go right ahead." The carni climbed out of the tank and James climbed in to replace him.

     "Now all you have to do is hit the target right over there. Then that fine young man sitting right there will fall directly into the pit of water." Said the carni.

     "Consider this my way of apologizing for trying to steal your pokemon guys!" James yelled. It was kinda hard to hear him through the plexy glass. "So dunk me as much as you want!"

     Stephan nodded and picked up a ball from the tub in front of him. Then threw it at the target in front of him, missing it.

     "Crap" he said. He tried again and missed. I laughed and looked at the carni. "Does it matter how we hit the target mister?" He shook his head no

     "As long as you don't pass that line." He said. I looked at the line he was pointing at. "Alright then, Stephan can I try?"

      "Hold on one more go" he said. He tried again and grazed it, sighing. "Go ahead then" I walked up to the line and looked at gastly.

     "Gastly use shadow ball and hit that target!" I yelled out.

     James gulped at look at me with eyes widened "Hey wait! That's not fair!" But it was too late. Gastly had fired off a high powered shadow ball directly at the target hitting it dead on. 
     James plummeted directly into the deep pool of ice water, landing with a loud splash. I hadn't noticed that the target had broken.

Well there's the latest chapter. Hope you enjoyed it. It's kinda a cliff hanger lol. It's been a while since I updated but I think I'm going to start updating regularly again idk.
