Chapter 2: First Pokemon

When we finally caught up to Layla she was sitting on the gate to our house.

“I don’t even know where the pokemon lab is,” she said laughing.

“I don’t live in this region so don’t ask me,” said Stephan.

“Well luckily I know where it is so follow me,” I said. They followed me for a few blocks and then we found ourselves at the bottom of a hill.

“It’s way up there!” Layla pouted. “I changed my mind let's go home.” I completely ignored her.

“Well we better get going,” I said. I took us about five minutes to get to the lab. We reached the door and I was about to knock when it flew open. Professor Oak stood in the doorway.

“Ah, welcome, why are you here?" He asked. "I shouldn't have any meeting for a few more days."

“We came for our first pokemon,” I said.

“ Oh umm... very well, follow me,” he said walking into the building. We followed him into the lab. We reached a room that had three pokeballs on a table.

“Please understand that I have not gotten out much lately and do not have the normal starter pokemon, but I do have three others.

“That’s fine with us,” I said.

“I have a ghost type, a normal type, and a grass type,” he said.

“I claim the normal type,” yelled Stephan.

“I claim the grass type,” yelled Layla.

“I guess that leaves me with the ghost,” I said with my disappointment clear on my face.

“Now Dylan, this is a very special ghost type. This pokemon was one of my first pokemon,” said the professor.

“Then it must be pretty strong. What is it?” I asked.

“I guess you’ll have to figure that out yourself, won't you,” he said handing me the pokeball. He also gave Stephan and Layla the PokeBall they claimed. We all threw out our pokemon.

“Cool I have a Eevee!” yelled Stephan.

“OMG, it’s a Oddish! It's so cute!” cried Layla.

     “And I have a Gastly,” I said.

“Thank you so much, professor Oak,” yelled Layla as she ran out the door.

“Hmm....She just can't stand still can she?” asked the professor.

“She gets that way when she's excited,” I said laughing.

“Well, thank you, Mr. Oak but we have to get going know. We have to beat a carni in a pokemon battle,” said Stephan.

“Alright! Good luck and take care boys,” he said as we left the lab.
