I wake to the birds song and sunshine flooding on my face. It's warm and welcoming feel draws me into it, luring me to stay in its warmth. And I do, I stay there, trying to let it take my worries away. Last night I told Kai what I am...he just looked at me with sadness in his eyes. I told him to get some rest while I patrolled the area. I couldn't bear it anymore, I had to get away from him. Soon after he fell asleep I decided to rest myself. I turn over just to find myself alone. I jump up tryin in vain to find him, but he's not here. He left. He's gone. I guess I was right, he couldn't handle it. I sit on the ground, burying my head into my hands. My stomach breaks me from my thoughts. I guess I should gather some food.
I walk until I reach a clear, still stream. I bend to look into the river, my reflection, I don't even recognize it anymore. Another face appears next to mine, Kai. I turn frantically searching for him, but he's nowhere to be found. I turn back to the stream in confusion. His face, still sitting in the ripples of the water. His eyes, they have the same sadness from the night before. Apparently it's going to be harder to forget him than I thought.
I walk back to camp carrying with me, berries and nuts. There standing by the already extinguished fire, men clad head to toe in armor. In the midst of the soldiers stands my greatest enemy. My Commander.
