Midnight Showers

Taking a cold shower at midnight.

The blind sensation of crisp, cool droplets running down your skin.

Darkness envelopes you.

Shivering as all warmth drains away and is left with a creeping coldness.

So cold it feels as if you're dancing through a waterfall in winter.

So cold.

Yet so liberating.

Tonight your soul is free.

Free to dance naked in the moonlight as the rain drops kiss your skin and the gentle breeze whispers softly in your ear, telling tales of your beauty that none shall hear.

And yet all good things must come to and end.

As you turn off the water with a wistful sigh, you watch by the light of the moon seeping through your window as a drops of water cresses your skin before falling to the ground.

You shudder as you feel the icy air cling to you and hastily wrap yourself in your pleasantly warm and comfortable towel.

As you climb in between the silky soft sheets of your bed you think about the strangeness of taking a cold shower at midnight and decide that maybe, just maybe, you should do it more often.
