Jack's POV

Last day of school, June 2018

It's finally the last day of sophomore year. The bell rings dismissing us from class and everyone jumps up from their seats and bolts to the door. Finn and I are skipping toward the front door of the building when we come across Sophia, Chosen, and Jeremy. We greet each other and gossip for a few minutes before we depart. Finn and I are all smiles because we are leaving for Boston tomorrow. My mom let me go as long as I promised to stay close to Finn and of course she didn't need to tell me that twice.

As we are walking home, I couldn't help but wonder if Finn's friends are going to like me. I'm really nervous, but also excited. Similarly, I start thinking about Jaeden and Wyatt. I hope that they are okay and are happy. Neither of them will answer our text messages which hurts but I guess I understand why. Finn and I decide to hang at my house for the rest of the day. When we finally arrive we immediately head up to my room and talk for the rest of the night.

Our flight to Boston leaves at 7:00 tomorrow morning so Finnie and I decide to go to sleep at 10:00. When we get in my bed, he holds me close as to never let me go. Before long, both of us are fast asleep, my heart pounding from excitement.

Finn's POV

"We need to get up Jackie," I say in the morning. It was 5:15 and we needed to leave by 6:00.

"Okay, baby," Jack replies with a groan giving me a kiss.

My mom was going to drive us to the airport. She was hesitant on letting me stay with my dad but I tried assuring her that it was going to be alright. She kept telling me that she didn't know how he would react to the news that I had a boyfriend. He would be accepting; at least I hope he would.

After getting ready, Jack grabs his bag and we race down the stairs. My mom was going to get my bag from my own house when she came to pick us up.

"Good morning boys," Mrs. Grazer says to us as we enter the kitchen to a buffet of pancakes and bacon. "Come sit, I made you guys breakfast."

Jack and I do as we are told and eat in silence until Mrs. Grazer speaks up again.

"Are you guys excited," she asks us and Jack instantly perks up.

"I can't wait! I just hope they like me."

"They will baby. I just know it," I respond to him referring to my friends from back home. He blushes and continues eating his breakfast.

Once we finish eating, someone knocks on the door. Jack and I both get up and open the door to my mom smiling in the doorway ready to head to the airport. She greets Mrs. Grazer before Jack gives his mom a hug. When they pull away, the three of us go out to the car putting Jack's suitcase in the trunk. We then start the long drive to Los AngelesInternationalAirport.

Jack's POV

When we arrived at LAX, Finn quickly said goodbye to his mother and we ran toward the entrance. When we got inside the airport the two of us got our tickets and checked our luggage meaning we would only have to go through security. It was 6:20 so we had some time before we would start boarding. We passed through security, but it took longer than usual as Finn caused the metal detector to go off. They had to thoroughly pat him down. I blushed and couldn't help but think that about how cute he really was, especially when he was vulnerable like this. After this ordeal finally passed, Finn gave me a quick kiss; I could tell that we were receiving some odd stares but I didn't even care because I love Finnie more than anything.

We started walking toward the gate when I realized that it was 6:45 already and that the plane had likely started boarding. I told Finn the time and we picked up the pace, essentially running to our gate, which was some length away. Luckily we got there right before they shut the gate; we were both utterly out of breath.

"We made it," I whisper to Finn as we try to catch our breath.

"Yep," he says grabbing my hand as we make our way to the aircraft. Because we were later than we should have been, Finn and I had to sit all the way in the back which was fine with me since we did still get the chance to sit together.

The flight took off at 7:00 on the dot causing me to get a little motion sickness. Finn must have been able to tell because he grabbed my hand interlacing our fingers. Once we got to a steady altitude, I laid my head on Finn's shoulder and shut my eyes. Before I knew it I was fast asleep.

7 hours later, 2:00 PM Pacific / 5:00 PM Eastern

"Jackie." I woke up at the sound of my name. I was still cuddled up with Finn. "We just landed baby."

I smile as I sit up looking out the window seeing us pull up to Boston Logan International Airport. I was starting to get seriously excited. Finn and I were one of the last ones to exit the plane as we were at the back of the plane. As we start walking toward baggage claim I grab on to Finn's hand once again.

We finally arrive at Finn's dad's house after eating dinner at the airport McDonald's and taking an Uber. I guess he didn't feel like picking us up.

"Hey Finnie, why didn't your dad pick us up," I ask him as we walk toward the door.

"I'm not sure. We don't really get along that well," he replies trailing off. My heart sinks.

We open the door and are greeted by a tall, grumpy-looking man standing with a beer in hand. Finn just rolls his eyes.

"Hi dad," Finn says, less than enthused.

"Who's this?" Mr. Wolfhard asks, completely ignoring the greeting.

"Oh, uh, this is Jack, my boyfriend," Finn says saying the last part quietly.

His dad just stares at us when a younger-looking woman comes up and places her arm around Mr. Wolfhard.

"So, you're a fag then," he says causing Finn to begin to tear up while the woman, presumably his girlfriend, laughs. The son of a bitch father, obviously drunk, takes a step toward Finn and punches him straight in the jaw. My mouth drops open.

"Fuck!" Finn screams out in pain causing my blood to boil. I take a step toward Finn's father and kick him in the groin with a pleasant smile plastered on my face.

"Get out!" he says bent over, "and never come back. I don't want to see either of your pussy faces ever again."

In complete shock, Finn and I run out of the house, Finn still holding onto his jaw. Once we get far enough away from the house, I sit Finn down on the ground and massage his jaw, trying to make him feel better.

"Well, that could have gone better," I say trying to lighten up the mood. Finn doesn't even crack a smile. "So now what are we going to do Finnie?"

He ignores me and simply takes his phone out of his pocket and appears to dial a number. After a moment, he sighs.

"Hi Noah."
