Edward came back true to his word, early on in the morning. Rosalie came back before him so Edward made up with her. She agreed to a truce but coldly. For a result, the house was in disarray for the majority of the time. Rosalie and Edward were coldly civil to each other but they still would not stay in the same room with each other the majority of the time. I noticed Edward was hunting more often and every night at around eleven or midnight, he would go for a walk. He then always came back with a frustrated look at around three, four or five in the morning. I spent three hours alone with Esme everyday, doing whatever we wanted. Sometimes we watched a movie, sometimes we had intimate time, sometimes we just talked. Since this whole situation had begun,we had resorted to just talking. Esme was scared that Edward would leave again, that Isabella Swan would get hurt or that the family was falling apart. I would sit on the bed next to Esme, my arms around her as she spoke her fears to me. I could comfort her and tell her everything was going to be alright but we both knew I was lying. I couldn't know that for sure. And to make things even worse, Alice had been seeing a group. A trio of vampires, nomads. They were in the area and Alice could potentially see them coming to visit us, knowing we were near. They showed no threat that Alice could see but we were concerned. Vampires who drank human blood could blow our carefully constructed cover in Forks. We had to be on the lookout.

A month passed though with no more problems that we could see. It was a relief. Edward confirmed no one was interested about the crash, Isabella had explained that Edward had saved her and yet, no one showed any interest towards him. Eventually people moved on to other topics. One early morning, Esme and I were having our three hours together when we heard the front door. Edward talking to Emmett who had been watching a baseball game.

"He's not happy." She told me sadly.

"He's probably lost a bet with Alice about the game." I said, absent-mindedly. She frowned and shook her head.

"I meant Edward, not Emmett."

"Oh. I know..." I frowned. Edward seemed quieter, wanted to be alone more. I wasn't happy either. He deserved to be happy, he had been alone too long. But Isabella... She would not make him happy. He would suffer with her. He didn't deserve to suffer either...

The thoughts went round and round my head till we were past three hours and it was time to get ready for my morning shift at the hospital. Esme came with me downstairs to see everyone off as well.

"Edward!" Alice danced down the stairs and came to a stop in front of him. Edward looked down at her.

"You're so small to be so annoying." She smiled at him. He smiled back at her, ruffling her hair. She glared.

"They're blood typing in biology." He nodded.

"Thanks for the warning, kiddo." She rolled her eyes and took Jasper's hand.

"See you later." She kissed me and Esme, Jasper rolled his eyes at us and they left to the garage. Rosalie followed with a wave at us.

"We're going hunting tomorrow?" Edward checked with Emmett.

"Yeah, yeah. Grizzly hunting here we come." Edward pushed his brother and Emmett pushed him back, both of them snickering.

"Bye boys!" Esme called as they followed to the garage. We were finally alone.

"Are you going to be alright?" Esme smiled at me.

"Of course. I'm going to go to goodwill and donate the last bags of clothing Alice wants to get rid of." I nodded, and stroked my fingertips against her cheek. She caught my hand and kissed my knuckles. I pulled her close and kissed her on the lips. She pulled me close too. I realised it had been a while since we had had some form of release. It was with that thought that I kissed her throat and whispered in her ear,

"Tonight, I want you." I pulled back to see her wide topaz eyes, widen even further. I smiled at the look of pure want on her face. She kissed the corner of my lips.

"I want you too." I smiled and took both of her hands, squeezing them gently.

"Soon." I promised. I kissed her cheek and left to get into the garage. They had taken the Volvo again. Emmett's Jeep, Rosalie's Convertible and my Mercedes were left behind. I took my Mercedes. I pulled away from the house, sheer want still in my head, in my bones. Once in the hospital though, it was much easier to forget the want and need for my beautiful wife, to forget the worries surrounding my son and his love interests, to forget the expecting nomads who may or may not come later on. People needed me. We had a particularly nasty car crash again, this time a motorcycle going too fast around a bend and smashing head first into the windscreen of a car. The driver of the car and the passenger were injured but not nearly as bad as the driver of the motorcycle. My attention was taken there and then. I was busy in stabilising all three victims so it was a very late 'lunch' break that I took at around three in the afternoon. I walked back to my office to hide out and complete paperwork. I opened the door and immediately realised several things at once. First of all my office smelt of my wife. Second of all my wife was in my office, leaning against the desk and facing me. Third of all my wife was in my office, dressed in a trench coat and white lingerie. I felt my eyes almost pop out of my head at her beautiful pale body showing off all her curves and her beautiful figure with the lingerie. I closed my office door and locked it.

"Dr Cullen." Esme said in a soft and silky voice. I almost took her right there and then but I knew we were playing first.

"Mrs Cullen. What can I do for you?" I advanced her slowly, still taking in the appearance of her hair falling past her shoulders and looking ever so slightly rumpled but sexy. She took hold of me, clearly playing was over, and pushed my doctor's coat off my shoulders and onto the floor. I tore at my tie, I couldn't seem to get it off fast enough. Eventually I managed it and helped her out of her coat. I hadn't noticed she was wearing white leather strappy heels to match. Oh Christ, give me strength...

I almost ripped my shirt in my haste to get it off but Esme took my hands, smiling sexily.

"Relax...We have time." I kissed her throat passionately, placing one hand on her waist and the other I used to sweep my desk clear of everything. The pen pots, paperwork, folders and my inbox tray fell to the floor with a crash and Esme sat perfectly on the desk.

It might have been minutes, it have been hours or maybe even days. Time meant nothing to me when Esme was with me in such an intimate way. I truly could appreciate her, every curve, every perfection.Everything. It reminded me of when I first met her, when I met her again, when she awoke to see me, when I proposed, when I married her...Every moment. This added to the perfect moments. Esme was my everything. We found ourselves lying on the desk, her head on my left arm, her left leg over mine, her body pressed against mine and her fingertips stroking shapes on my chest and stomach, running her fingers up and down gently. I kept my right arm behind my own head, the better to see her and what she was doing.

"We should really get dressed." Esme murmured eventually. I raised an eyebrow at her.

"Dressed? You don't have much to get dressed into." She giggled and turned to me. I smiled at the soft peal of tinkling giggles, that reminded me so much of the first time we met.

"Yes I do. I hid a change of clothes in here ages ago." I blinked at her.

"When? How come I haven't ever seen this?" She smiled, a secret twinkle in her eye.

"Ah! Now that's because I'm smart." She tapped her nose and moved off the desk. I stayed where I was for only half a second, debating whether or not I wanted to actually get up. I decided the biker's need was greater than my own and I got dressed too. Esme had gone to my small wardrobe where I kept a change of emergency clothes. Of course, I saw immediately she had placed a blouse and jeans there.

"Well then." I said in surprise. She winked at me and came over to me. I had already placed the desk items back on the desk and had her trenchcoat in my hand.

"It was lovely to see you again, Dr Cullen." She told me, taking the coat and pulling it on.

"You too Mrs Cullen. Is tonight no longer happening then?" She walked to the door, unlocked it and opened it.

"No it's definitely still happening." She left and I chuckled softly.
