4. Interrogation

Emmett and Edward left for Goat Rocks in the morning. They took Emmett's Jeep. This meant a weekend with a gloomy Jasper, who had already hunted with Alice a few nights before and a depressed Rosalie who was next in line to hunt, along with me.

"Right, I know exactly what you lot all need." I said on the Saturday, clapping my hands together as I walked into the front room. All of them looked at me, gloomily. Apart from Alice who jumped up and almost screamed in delight.

"Yes, yes, yes!" She dashed up the stairs without even another word from me. Rosalie smirked.

"Don't even think Jasper makes Alice climax that quickly. You've set a new record, Carlisle." Jasper faked a snicker at Rosalie and then scowled at her. Rosalie exchanged a look with Esme and Esme had to avoid staring at anyone else, biting her lip to stop a smile. I rolled my eyes.

"Shopping trip. Alice, Esme and Rosalie can go to Seattle in Rosalie's car. Jasper and I can have a bonding session." Jasper's eyes flickered to me, warily as Alice appeared at the bottom of the stairs, dressed already in a coat and shoes with her shoulder bag at her shoulder.

"What have I done?" Jasper asked as Rosalie and Esme walked out to get ready as well.

"Nothing! It's just a little us time."

"Jasper probably had 'us' time earlier. Maybe that's why Alice climaxed so quickly!" Rosalie called from her room. Jasper growled and Rosalie's giggles could be heard. I coughed to stop myself from laughing. The way these lot bantered was ridiculous sometimes and honestly, not things I wanted to hear but it was entertaining for me and Esme to bet on who would be next to start up with the banter. Usually our bets landed on Emmett with Jasper, not Rosalie so this was a first.

"Anyway!" I said to draw attention back to planning. "I was thinking maybe we could go hiking." Jasper raised an eyebrow. The light threw his scars into more relief, showing them off easier. I ignored it and waited. I guessed Jasper was testing the atmosphere and I knew he was suspicious. He had no idea of my actual intentions, he was no Edward. However, he did have Alice as a wife and she rolled her eyes once she had opened them again from her vision. Jasper looked at her for some guidance but she shook her head.

"I'm not saying anything. He's promised me a new bracelet." I blinked at Alice.

"I was not aware of this. When did I say that?"

"You will do." She replied sweetly. Rosalie and Esme came back downstairs. I kissed Esme quickly on the lips while Alice and Jasper had a full on kissing session. Eventually the pair separated and Jasper and I were alone.

"Should we go for a walk?" I gestured towards the door. Jasper rolled his eyes.

"What's this about, Carlisle?" I sat down on the window seat, facing him on the couch. Jasper sat with his hands linked together and a look of worry on his face. I smiled at him.

"So..How are things?" Jasper sighed.

"Can you just tell me what this is about?"

"I'm just concerned about my children is all." Jasper's eyes narrowed slightly.

"Children? This is about Edward isn't it?"

"I never said that!" But Jasper was relaxing now, he knew my actual intentions and it wasn't to interrogate him about him, it was about Edward.

"What is going on in the school between him and Isabella? Has anything else happened?"

"They're talking more... And Edward sits with her at lunch." I widened my eyes in concern.

"So Edward has made his choice then..."

"Yes."

"And the other humans?"
