I'm unaware if I'm completely alone in this, but I REALLY enjoy books with lots of sass from a character that cannot be questioned. In Harry Potter, he can be as sassy as he damn pleases and nobody says shit about it most of the time.
I also enjoy when characters say something so fucking smooth and you just whisper "damn" out loud because DAMN. I l o v e it so much because other characters can't say no then and it keeps the plot moving.
I've tried to incorporate this into my own writing and it's gone completely unnoticed most of the time. In my Dyle one-shots, I have a lot of quips (mainly from Dan) that I really like. These go more noticed than the sass from Laura in Lost Dad. If you enjoy sass, Laura is especially sarcastic around Dan, if you'd like to read that.
