I woke up to a vacant bed, to a vacant room. A wave of sadness washed over me. As much as I wanted to continue to 'rest my eyes' I decided that it would be best to go out and be productive. I'm going to finally interact with the members and get to know them, I'm sure Angello won't mind.
I took a quick hot shower and dressed in comfortable clothing; a pair of blue jeans and a black long sleeve. As I was walking through the halls a familiar scent filled my nose, a musky pine with peppermint. A simple wooden door stood as a border between us, I debated whether if I should go in or not. It's best to not bother him. As I exited the right wing and got to the staircase a trio made up of girls were coming up, they were giggling and seemed happy. A little blondie no older than fifteen made eye contact with me first her giggling instantly stopped she then elbowed another blondie and she too wore a serious face. They both stood there in shock while the brunette continued to hysterically laugh, she then looked at the two blondies in wonder as to why they discontinued their laughters. She then followed the other two girls eyes and as soon as she met mine she dropped. The two blondies shortly followed. I was surprised by the action. "Girls, please rise." They instantly did the brunette almost fell back as she did.
"You don't need you to bow down to me, you shouldn't have to bow down to anyone." I lowered my body until I was face-to-face to the brunette. I grabbed a chunk of her hair putting it behind her ear. "What are your names?" I stood up properly as I spoke.
The brunette was the first and only to answer, "it's Emma-Rosie and this is Sophie and Sophia." The two blondies; Sophie and Sophia, stood silently practically behind Emma-Rosie using her as a shield.
"Well Emma-Rosie, Sophie and Sophia it was a pleasure meeting you three." After giving them a quick hug goodbye I continued my journey down the stairs. As I reached the bottom floor, my eyes had yet to see each angle of the den and all wolves were on their knees already. Their head bowed down to show submission, it was utterly horrendous seeing their actions in play.
"They submit to you their leader." His voice startling me a bit causing goosebumps to rise behind my neck.
I was to distraught to had even notice his musky minty pine scent lingering beneath my nose.
He's wrong, this is wrong. "I'm not their leader. I'm their Luna, a Luna's purpose is to guide her pack, to give advise and protect them not lead them as they submit to me! Please, rise. From here on out I don't ever want to see any of you on your knees." It now made sense as to why the three young girls bowed to me.
I received a blank stare from Angello. He then looked curious, studying me.
The pack members looked back at Angello and slowly rose making sure they weren't barked at by him. They continued to stare at us for a while longer but since neither of us even tried talking they slowly went back to their activities.
"What are you doing down here?" His musky voice was low yet laced with a hint of frustration. He took a couple steps towards me as my feet were glued to the rich white oak floor.
"I'm sorry I didn't know I wasn't allowed to come down from our bedroom and into our pack house." I was irritated.
His face expression washed away and was replaced with amusement. He rose his hands in surrender "you're pleased to do as you wish, Luna." He held his last letter longer than he should have as he release a mischievous smirk.
What's that supposed to mean? "Yeah, I know. Now if you'll excuse me I have matters to attend to." Leaving without another word I was on my way. I'm still trying to find my way through the house but I know where most places are. I went to the backyard, remembering the bench but unlike last time area wasn't empty. There were groups of moms with their toddlers, men teaching adolescents how to fight, teenage girls talking and laughing amongst themselves everyone looked so happy and carefree I love it. The bench was empty. I walked to it and sat there admiring the view for no more than five minutes when I felt someone sit down besides me. I looked and saw her blank face looking towards the same direction that I was just seconds before. It was the blonde headed girl who was upset that her boyfriend found her mate. The girl who showed me where the training field was.
"What do you have that I don't? What do you have that no other she wolf has? What makes you so different, but so worthy of a mate like Angello?" Her voice was laced with so many emotions; anger, hatred, jealousy, but the overpowering one was sadness. She finally looked at me and her eyes were empty. "I'll tell you what makes us different. You don't love him like I do. You don't know him like I do." She spoke with such hatred and such pain, I pitied her. "What's his favorite color, song, food , drink, ...Tv show? I bet you didn't even know he watched tv! Well let me tell you, gray, Arabella , Deer; on the bone; rare, Arnold Palmer, and his favorite tv show is Game of Thrones. His favorite weather is rain, he and his wolf love running in it. Look, I don't care that he's a rich powerful Alpha. Rank means nothing to me. I care about him." I was at lost of words. Most she wolfs would get angry hearing such things, but I couldn't get upset. She was right, I don't know him.
Why was I paired with him?
"I'm sorry." Was all my mouth could speak out. She spoke nothing but truth and that's what upset me the most. I cowardly walked away not wanting to hear another word. It seemed like I was walking for hours but it was only minutes. A wooden door stood as a border between us once again but this time Without any hesitation I swung the door open, a bit too hard to add to the dramatic effect. He was alone. He had a bunch of paper scattered out in front of him on his desk.
"we haven't completed the mating process...hell we haven't even started it. You were right, Reject me." I tried reading him. At first he was confused but then he was hurt with a hint of annoyance.
"Why do you do this? In this relationship we go one step forward and three steps backwards, we're never going to get anywhere if you keep at it." We stood there standing still looking eye to eye. A desk stood in between us. I was too scared to move, one wrong move and it all will be chaos. "I've accepted you into our pack as a Luna. If you don't think you're worthy of it, you're wrong." He slowly came around the desk.
"I ran into someone who made me realize that I don't know you. I don't know your favorite color, song, food, tv show or anything like that. It's all so fucked up. We're born and our destiny is already written out for us. We're supposed to mate with the one the goddess paired us with and nothing or no one can change that.
"Time. In time we'll get to know each other." He walked out of his office leaving me there alone with nothing but my thoughts.
