The first thing that Andre and I do when we get to the mall is walk into the hair salon.

There is nobody in there but us and two staff members so Andre closes the salon doors, flips the sign to "Sorry, we're closed." and walks up to the counter and signs in, "Sonny Monroe - Hair cut and dye" then slaps three one hundred dollar bills down, puts a finger to his lips, and pushes the clip board to the girl.

She silently nods, takes the money, looks at the name and quickly looks up with a gasp.

I look at her name tag as she shuffles toward me.

"Amy" lightly grabs my hand and quickly places me in a chair then says, "Just a moment, Mr. Monroe. Alicia! We have someone important to tend to!"

Alicia comes out and glares at Amy before she sees me.

In a high squeal, Alicia says, "Is that Sonny Monroe!"

I nod and say, "Listen, I'm on a busy schedule here and I need my hair cut and dyed quickly. Just act like I'm any other customer. But make it look nice."

"Yes, sir. If I may ask, how come your hair is this long? In all the pictures I've seen of you, it's always been shorter.."

"Look, Alicia. I made a bet with my twin sister that I'd have to grow my hair out and have every picture of me photoshopped with short hair. So she owes me a hundred dollars. Okay? Cut it like my hair it is in the photos. Dye the tips red just as well. And hurry."

Alicia immediately pulls out her scissors and begins to snip.

Locks of my foot long hair fall and hit the floor and I let out a small chuckle as Alicia does this sort of dance around me as she snips here and cuts there.

She suddenly stops, stands still, and looks me in the eye before saying, "Sonny, you are a beautiful being. Now, we must love your hair. Are you ready for the hair dye?"

I nod and flash her my brother's winning smile which makes her look like she's going to faint.

She seems to pull herself together because she picks up the red hair dye and mixes it up before she gracefully attacks my hair.

After letting it sit in my hair for half an hour, Alicia gently grabs my hand and leads me to the hair washing station.

I sit down, lean my head back, close my eyes and let her do her magic.

The warm water splashes onto my head and Alicia puts some shampoo onto her palm then massages it into my scalp and hair.

After a minute or so, she rinses out the lathered foam and carefully rubs in some conditioner while running her fingers through my newly shortened locks before rinsing out my hair and leading me to a hair dryer to sit under.

While I'm sitting under the hair dryer, Alicia pulls up a chair and sits in front of me. I've gotta say, she's got guts.

"So, Sonny, are you excited about joining Eccentrix?"

"Well, yeah. I've always wanted to sing for a band and their type of music is perfect. They're the exact kind of group I've been hoping to join."

Alicia swoons and asks me, "So, what's the rest of the band like?"

Andre immediately stands up and and tells Alicia, "Listen, girl. Sonny doesn't have time to hold a conversation. Somebody stole his suitcase and now he has nothing to wear but the clothes on his back. We need to pick up everything and get where we need to be by noon tomorrow. So, hurry your white ass up and finish with his hair."

Alicia snorts, grumbles something to herself and sits me under a hair dryer.

When my hair's done drying, Alicia sits me in my original chair and starts gelling it into artfully sculpted little spikes where necessary.
