5. Ash's True Love

The gang were on their way to Anistar City where Ash will get his seventh badge for the Kalos League. Ash was training his Pokémon while Clemont was cooking and Serena and Bonnie were doing a bit of grooming. Just in Serena's sight, she saw Chespin and Pancham fighting again which caused them to knock over Ash's backpack. Tired of this she walked to them and calmed them down. As she was picking up Ash's bag a small book fell out of it which made her curious.

"What could this be?" Serena thought.

Serena picked up the book and the cover read memories. She opened it and found multiple pictures of Ash on his previous journeys. She saw a number of girls one with orange hair wearing a yellow top with red suspenders, one brunette wearing a red bandana and shirt, one with blue hair wearing a white beanie and a black top over a pink dress, and one with purple hair wearing a white blouse. Part of her wanted to rip the book and another part wanted to cry in a corner. She decided to put the book back and think about it later.

A few hours later

Now in the Anistar Pokémon Centre, Serena was in her room thinking about the book she found a while ago. Ash, who was also in the room, noticed her deep in thought. He decided to ask what was up since she has been quiet lately.

"Hey Serena" Ash started.

"Yes Ash" Serena replied.

"You've been awfully quiet, is everything alright?" Ash asked.

"I'm fine, there's nothing to worry" Serena lied with a fake smile.

"Ok then" Ash said walking out of the room with an eyebrow moved up.

Serena sighed, maybe he likes one of those girls in that book. She couldn't get it out of her mind, her childhood crush might not have feelings for her and like one of the other girls. 'Does Ash even like me?' she thought, things were flying in her head. Maybe Ash likes one of the other girls and doesn't have feelings for Serena. Maybe he never had feelings for her in the first place. Serena decided to talk to Bonnie for help.

Later

"Bonnie" Serena called out.

"Yes" Bonnie replied.

"Can we talk, it's important" Serena started.

"Ok, what is it?" Bonnie asked.

"Well, while we were still out, I found a book the fell out of Ash's backpack" Serena started explaining, "It was from his past travels and there were other girls" she added, "I'm not even sure he even likes me"

"Serena, I'm sure he likes you, if he didn't, he might've mentioned at least one of those girls' names" Bonnie informed.

"But what if he isn't mentioning their names because he doesn't want me to know that he likes that girl?" Serena questioned in the verge of tears.

"Well, there's only one way to find out" Bonnie exclaimed, "You have to talk to him and find out"

As Bonnie walked away, Serena thought about what she said. She was right, the only way that she can know whom Ash likes is if she talks to him. But she was too shy to face him about the subject in her head. 'I must do it, this is my only chance to see if Ash likes anyone' she thought. Serena ran off and told Ash that she wanted to talk to him privately at night. After he accepted, she waited until the moon rose to start.

That night

Serena stood at the balcony waiting for Ash, she had finally built up the courage to talk to Ash about her situation. She thought about how she would feel if Ash told her that he had feelings for someone else. That thought was broken once she saw the raven-haired boy walk up to her. She smiled as he stopped in front of her.

"So, what was it that you wanted to talk about?" Ash asked.

"Well, I've been having a bit of a situation and I need to ask you something" Serena explained.

"Ok, what is it then?" Ash questioned.

"Well, when we were still out camping before arriving, I found a book that fell out of your bag" Serena started.

"The book that contained my past travels?" Ash exclaimed.

"Yes, I saw the pictures you had and the other girls that were there" Serena added.

She was starting to tear up as she thought more about the book. Ash was speechless as he heard that Serena had found his book that he kept pictures of his past travels. He noticed tears falling from Serena's eyes and was confused as to why she was crying.

"You've been traveling with so many girls, I' not sure what to think of you" Serena exclaimed.

"What do you mean?" Ash asked.

"What I mean is that you've travelled with other girls and you might have feelings for them" Serena started explaining, "I've had a crush on you since we met but after seeing these other girls, I'm not sure if you feel the same way"

"Serena" Ash muttered.

"If you don't feel the same way, I'll try to not make a big deal of it" Serena added, "But my question is, who do you truly love?"

More tears started pouring out of Serena's eyes after she talked to Ash. For some reason, the thought of Ash not having any feelings for her and having them for someone else kept playing in her mind. She couldn't stand not being with her childhood crush and trying to move on from not being with him. Just then, she felt a pair of hands wiping her tears and she opened her eyes to see Ash wiping them.

"Serena, I've been traveling for 6 years now and on my past journeys, not one of those girls I've travelled with were more than just a friend" Ash explained.

"Ash" Serena whispered.

"Misty was really mean to me, May was basically my student, Dawn was more of a sister to me and Iris made fun of me a lot" Ash added, "But ever since I came here, I've never met anyone like you Serena, you mean a lot to me"

"A-a-ash" Serena stuttered.

"So to answer your question, you are my true love and will always be" Ash answered.

Serena couldn't contain it, she lunged at Ash giving him a hug and was cheering on the inside. Her childhood crush, the one she loved during her journey, also had feelings for her. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him into a passionate kiss. Ash put his arms around her waist and they were there for 2 minutes. After breaking the kiss, the two couldn'd be any happier.

"I'm glad you have feelings for me" Serena exclaimed.

"Of course Serena, I will always stay by your side and be your true love, your soulmate, your significant other" Ash replied.

"I love you, Ashy" Serena said pulling him into a hug.

"I love you too, Sere" Ash said returning the hug.
