Chapter 11
===================================================================================
My phone vibrated by my bedside, annoying me so much I just had to answer. 'Hello?' I spoke groggily into the speaker. The time was eight in the morning. I should be awake by now by I wanted to stay in bed for a couple more hours.
'Zaria?' John voice was slightly panicky from the other line. 'Stupid press has gone wild again. Don't bother. I will fix it. I have already scheduled an interview.' Then the line went dead.
Just hearing the word "Press" got me freaked out. Like someone had shot me a full dose of adrenalin. I rushed to the living room and turned on the TV. I balled up my fists and punched the couch hard.
I think the paparazzis have gone too far. Why the he'll would they create rumours like this? It says on the headline "Zaria into older men!"!!! A few shots of me hugging John were taken. What the hell?! It was just a brother-sister hug! They thought yesterday's dinner was a frickin' date! The press really likes to change from one story to another. They really need to restrained.
I received a message from an anonymous person. It says "Were the rumors true???". I stared blankly and replied by asking who it was.
"Niall." The text came almost immediately. Oh.
"No. Why do you care? Getting green-eyed? You would actually believe those reporters?" My fingers went furiously over the keys.
"Just to make sure."
"What for? He is my manager, like an elder brother. That's it. You needn't bother in the first place since we weren't even going out." I sent him the message but he never replied after that.
Bored till my extent, I grabbed an ink pen and a piece of fresh paper. I decided to turn the drama that happened two days ago into a song. But it frustrated me so much to even think about it I gave up trying. Instead, I took out my violin (I was a better violinist than a pianist anyway.) and played a random song when the doorbell rang. I nearly dropped my three thousand bucks instrument against the floor before checking on the door.
'Niall?' I peeked through the small gap in which I opened the door. There was the blonde Irish man standing outside my door wearing a polo tee and jeans with his cool sneakers.
'Hi Alth- I mean Zaria.' He bit his lips. 'C-can I come in?' He asked quite timidly which I found adorable and made me feel worse. Was I that scary?
I opened the door for him and he bounded in, looking around the place. A question floated around my head and made me wonder. 'How'd you know where I live?' I blurted out and closed the door behind me.
'Simple. Asked John. Hey, could you go change? I wanna take you someplace.' His thick accent sometimes mad wit hard to make out the words he said.
'Huh...oh. But we sort of had an agreement, we are not seeing each other. We aren't dating. So whatever you were planning, I'm gonna have to decline.' I said slowly as I studied his reaction. His crystal sea blue eyes seemed to show sorrow for a split second but he blinked them away.
'No, it's not a date. Just put on something else. You are meeting someone.' He hurried me into my bedroom.
I protested but he threw some outfits into my arms. I exited the bathroom using my arms to cover my exposed skin with all the ugly scars still on it. I was wearing a graphic design t-shirt and long skinny jeans. I shuffled out and quickly slid on my long arm-length gloves and slip on a pair of neon sneakers.
'Don't think I did not see that.' Niall said and folded my gloves to my elbows. He turned my arms over and examined my wounds. 'All this time, you wore those just to cover up your cuts? Why didn't you see a doctor? They weren't properly healed.' He choked back a sob and restrained his voice from cracking. 'I'm so sorry you had to go through all the pain alone. If only I were there...' He rubbed my wounds gently in circular motions.
