Chapter 19
===================================================================================
I woke up in the afternoon and shuffled to the mirror. My eyes were red and squinty from crying so much. Bad enough that my eyes were small, now they're like the Japanese or Koreans. No offense though. The Japanese and Koreans both have beautiful eyes too, I was just referring to the size.
One thing very noticeable about my face was the distinct paleness of my skin, not to mention the fact that it was cold. Suppose I could now confirm what I had suspected for some time. I didn't mind, I accepted it gladly, but no one else knew, and I'd like to keep it that way. It was for the good of everyone else.
Oh, Niall. Poor boy, I needed to make sure that he's fine. I grabbed my phone and dialed his number. The dialed ringtone rang several times but no one answered. I called again a few couple times to have only reached his voicemail. 'Niall, why won't you answer?' I punched furiously the numbers to One Direction's House phone.
'Helloooooooooooooo?'
'Louis! Don't hang up. I need to speak with Niall.' I spoke in a rush.
'Zaria? What did you say? Seeking nails? Sorry. We're out of them. Too bad. Don't call ever. Bye!' It wasn't unusual of Louis getting all sassy. But it just wasn't the moment for any sarcasm or whatsoever. Still he hung up on me.
I called again. 'Louis, just give me a freaking chance to speak with Niall. I want to apologize for how I've acted. Louis! Don't. Seriously, stop it.' But Louis ignored me and sang "Apologize" by One Republic. 'Louis!!!'
'Get it through your thick skull, HE DOESN'T WANT TO TALK TO YOU!' Louis' voice boomed through the speaker. 'So just leave him alone!'
'Oh yeah, I would like to hear Niall tell me that himself. Just please pass the phone to him whether he wants or refuses.' I pleaded but I knew there was no point hoping.
I heard the phone being passed around and Zayn's voice came to hearing. 'Zaria, I warned you not to break his heart. You didn't. Instead you ripped it, stepped on it, spat on it and threw it away. You don't deserve a great guy like him, and we're keeping you away from him. Don't come into his life ever again. Just stay out of it.'
In the background, while Zayn was talking to me, I heard Liam shouting. 'Zaria, he does want to talk to you! No don't Louis-' I heard his muffled yells and the call ended.
'Fine.' I mumbled and called Silena's phone instead. Every single time, she disconnected the line. 'I just want to talk!' I fumed. I couldn't take it any longer. All the drama these past few days might just drive me off my sanity. I changed into sweatpants and a t-shirt and head to the park.
The afternoon sun blazed above, sending the temperature soaring high. I took a spot under a shady London plane and sat on the grass. There I observed the flaky texture of the planete's bark till I lost interest and turned to a couple playfully hitting each other. Somehow, seeing them, an image of Niall popped up in my head. I sighed and pushed that thought away. It was a one in a million chance that he would actually forgive me for how I had acted last night.
I heard a rustle and my head swiveled to the direction of the sound. I was getting more and more jumpy but better safe than sorry. I caught a glimpse of a pair of eyes peering out from the bushes before retreating. My curiosity got the better of me and I made my way to the bushes. I peeped under the leaves and saw a little Chinese girl, probably around the age of five huddling at the very back where a wall was firmly implanted into the ground. Her straight black hair fell till her shoulders - taking the shape of her chubby face - with bangs that covered her eyebrows. There was something about those sunken droopy hazel eyes that just stared right back at me so intently. Then it came to my realization that she was starving by the way her face looked so sickly pale ( Join the club ) and how her dry chapped lips trembled.
