After their air-band session ('Heaven is a Place Earth' by Belinda Carlisle, 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' by Cyndi Lauper, 'Come On Eileen' by Dexys Midnight Runners etc.)
They sat on the rocks. Richie dug into Ben's backpack. Bev and Molly adjusted from their spot on a towel near the edge.
"News flash Ben, schools out for summa'." Richie said in a terrible accent, pulling out a postcard.
"Oh that? That's not school stuff," said Ben.
"Who sent you this?" Richie asked, turning the postcard over.
"No one!" Ben snatched the card out of his hands.
Richie pulled out more things out of Ben's backpack like a green folder filled with news articles. 'EASTER EXPLOSION KILLS 88 CHILDREN, 102 TOTAL' the article read in big bold letters.
"What's with the history project?"
"Oh, well, when I first moved here, I didn't really have anyone to hang out with. So I just started spending my time at the library." Richie passed the folder to Bill.
"You went to the library?" Richie questioned.
"On purpose?" Gwen continued.
Eddie scoffed.
"Oh I want to see," Bev motioned for Molly to come with her.
She sat next to Bill while Molly sat next to Eddie and Nyla on the floor.
"What the Blackspot?" Stan asked.
"The Blackspot was a night club that was burned down nine years ago by that racist cult," Richie answered.
"W-what?" Stan and Gwen asked.
"Don't you watch Heraldo?"
"No, what the fuck is that?"
"It does matter, pass it," said Richie. Stan handed him the folder and he went to a different page. "Why is it all murders and missing kids?"
"Derry's not like any other town-" Nyla scoffed. "I've ever been in before. They even did a study once, and it turns out: people die or disappear six times more the national average."
"...you... read that?" Bev asked shakily.
"Not only adults," Ben continued, "kids are worse... way, way worse. I've got more stuff if you wanna see it," he offered.
"No," Eddie mouthed, shaking his head slightly.
"Hey, it's all right," Nyla nudged his shoulder.
They ended up going to Ben's house despite Eddie's protests.
