Every crack in the earth's surface was created for the same reason. Whether it be a crack the sidewalk, a canyon, or a ravine, all were made the same way. The most infamous crack would have to be the Grand Canyon.

This is the story of one immortal who is the reason behind all of these splits in the earth's surface. That's right, an immortal made these cracks. Since the dawn of time, this supernatural girl has roamed the earth.

Being alive for so long means that she has had her heart broken many times. Numerous times she has fallen in love only to have her heart broken. Every time this happens a new scare is inflicted upon this earth.

The most devastating heart break formed the Grand Canyon. Never in her life did she believe that such pain could be inflicted upon someone and they still live.

When Anya first laid eyes on him the world stopped. Her heart skipped a beat. She forgot how to breath. Her limbs forgot how to function. Her brain only had one though; to meet this boy. Something about this boy drew her in and wouldn't let her go. His aura was too enticing to ignore.

So, when Anya finally got her bearings back she went up to him. She stuttered due to the nerves. Her stomach did summersaults as it tried to digest all the butterflies that were swarming around inside her. Finally, she swallowed down any reservations and talked to him.

Sadly, her knees turned to jelly. They clambered together as she tried to stay up, and eventually buckled underneath her. She tumbled like a rag doll into his arms. Blushing up at him from where in his arms she laid.

He said the cheesiest pick up line," I think you've really fallen for me." Anya laughed with the innocence she thought she had lost centuries ago. She didn't even know him, but she knew he made her feel alive again.

When he sat her back up on her legs she wobbled, but stayed on her feet. She giggled at him, looking down at the ground. Feeling like a shy teenage girl, she kicked her feet at the ground.

He told her to never look down, and always keep her chin. Slowly he tilted her chin up and kissed her. The kiss electrocuted her. For the second time in one hour her heart skipped a beat. She could feel every nerve in her body. Every bit of her body was on fire.

Taking a step back he smiled at Anya. At the time it seemed like a warm smile. One filled with the promise of love and someone who would care fore her. Looking back, Anya now realizes that this smile was full of malice. It was a smile made of lies and empty promises. One that would break every fiber in Anya's body.

She followed this boy blindly and faithfully. He was her whole world and she would do anything for him. She did everything he asked of her and more. She was blind to how he was really treating her.

He watched as the light burned out of her eyes. He watched her as she killed herself trying to please him. He allowed her to drain herself until there was nothing left to give. He didn't try to save her.

A month later when he finally took her, when he finally got what he wanted, he was done with her. He used her and threw her away. She was just a bet that her made with his friends. She was just someone who happened to fall into his trap. Someone who was disposable to him.

That's when it began. The first crack; the beginning of the of the Grand Canyon.

Nothing would kill this little immortal though. Even if she wanted t make all the pain end. Even if she lost her faith in humanity. She was alive, and she would continue to live.

A year later when Anya saw those ocean blue eyes again, the Grand Canyon began cracking even more. When he asked her to be his again Anya of course said yes.

He was a drug and she couldn't get enough of him. She would never be able to say no. She was addicted. She was just getting better when he came back to her. She relapsed into the dark abyss she, at the time, called love.

This time it only lasted two weeks. She was weaker this time. She was easier to break; easier to manipulate. She wasn't as much to play with the second times. So, when the two weeks ended, Anya was again reminded of what it felt like to continue living once you had died.

One again she grieved. The crack of the Grand Canyon grew bigger with every tear that she shed. The ground eroded more and more every time she lost her breath to a sob. The walls got steeper every time she recalled a now painful memory.

She mended herself together. Years of practice, many lives of learning how to pick up the broken pieces of herself. She knew that she would get through this and she would live on. What she didn't know is if she would ever love again.

Against all odds years later, the same rugged but charming boy came back up knocking on her door. This time she sent him packing. This time she told him she wouldn't fall for his tricks ever again.

He came back the next day though. He told her that he had changed. He said that he was different now. He had changed for her.

How could she say no to him? He did this all for her. He bettered himself for her. The facade lasted about a week. Anya remember why she fell in love with him for the first place. She remembered all the good times. She really thought there was a future for them.

Then he disappeared. He didn't even say good bye. Was she just that forgettable? Was she just that replaceable? Disposable? He left her and didn't look back. He didn't even leave a not or message of any kind!

Anya promised herself she would never let him make her feel this way again. Even though she told herself she didn't care, that she had already shed enough tears for him, she cried. Boy, did she cry. She cried over her stupidity. She cried over never being enough for him. She cried because he would never love her like she loved him.

Finally, when he came home one day with the milk he had went out for all those many years ago, Anya didn't open the door. He was confused. She had always been there when he wanted her. So, he came back the next day.

He explained that this time he really had changed. He explained that he did love her, and he wanted her back. He wanted for her to be there whenever he wanted.

The Grand Canyon grew for the last time that day. This boy broke her heart one more time that day. She cried in front of him this time. She screamed and yelled at him. She told him he never deserved her. She told him that she loved herself and that's why she couldn't have him her life anymore.

He asked her if she still loved him. She obviously said yes. She told him that she would never stop loving him, but she couldn't love him without losing herself. She explained that she couldn't lose herself again because she may never find her way back.

That day she broke her own heart by choosing to love herself.
