My Wall for You

After we drifted apart

I had no help defending my heart

After you left

Because I was much too complicated

After I got hurt

Time after time

I gave up

I put walls up

I defended myself

I learned how to not rely on people

I change

So when you came back

You were right, I was not the same

I got stronger

I got better

I healed

My walls went up

And no one got in

My defences kept everyone at bay

No one could get to me

And I was safe

Alone is safe

I did not want to be alone

I wanted you

But you were not safe

But you just brought hollow promises

But you just always leave

You were outside of my wall

And you didn't care at all

You didn't even try to break through

Like I would have done for you

You were on the outside

Of a wall built for you

You were the one weakness

For that wall I built for you

You just had to try
