great surprise // chapter 4

Me and Michael is chit chatting about how hungry we are. I mean, me and him get along pretty well because, we both love pizza, so much. And we're both also very, very sarcastic. If you haven't notice.

I grin from ear to ear when we arrived at the nearest pizza place. "I want the deluxe cheese, please." I smiled cheekily. After Michael done ordering our food, we sat at the booth near the windows. I scrolled thru tumblr, ugh. Derek is so hot. "so, you heard the new gossip 'round the school?" I looked at him questioningly, "Calum is back." I was happily slurping my very tasty ice tea, until I heard Michael said that.

I choked, "The fuck?" Michael literally cackle at my reaction, "Shut the hell up, Mike." I glared. Michael just smirk at me knowingly, "I'm being serious. He called me last week, said that he will come back and continue his senior year here. With us." I'm literally shocked. Speechless. Gobsmacked. You name it.

Suddenly I'm not so excited for pizza, Michael is happily chewing on his pizza. Ugh, what a dog. I just stare at my pizza and toss it around, "Look, Ale. I know you and him went through a rough history. But please, don't make yourself feel like you did a year before. You shouldn't let him effect you like this, alright? Toughen up." I nodded at Michael's words.

It's the third day back to school as a Senior, I actually don't think any interesting stuff would happen to me this year, but Michael decided to drop the bomb and told me that Calum would be back. Guess not, then.

I took a quick shower and dressed myself in a black camisole and a white jeans, matched with my black converse. It's not like I'm going to impress anyone, meh.

I head downstairs, I groan when I saw Claire sitting on our dining table. "Good morning, sweetcheeks," My mom greeted me with a kiss, "Morning, hot mama." I grin at her, dad look at us while chuckling. Claire glance at the three of us, "aw, you guys. We're such a happy family!" I roll my eyes.

"Well, we were happy. Until you decided to come home." I spat. Mom scolded me and shoo me away so I can go to school.

Arrived at school with my typical grumpy face, I searched for Michael.

I panted when I stopped at my locker, after strolling through the entire school building searching for that human version of unicorn, I didn't find anything. Oh well, let's count that as a early mini exercise.

Grabbing my notes for the first period, Math. I turn around, and my heart almost fell out of my chest.

"Boom, bitch." Michael grin at me, "Fuck you." Michael laugh evilly, "Sooo, are you nervous?" I glance at him, "Should I?" I play dumb, he literally roll his eye so hard at my question. "Look, Mike. I really don't want to think about him. He's not even here yet, and he's already fucking with me."

Michael gave me an inspiring pep talk, too bad I was not paying attention. He gave up after realizing that I'm not listening. He walked me to my first period and gave me a quick hug. I never admit this, but I am so glad to have a friend like him. He knows when to be funny and sarcastic but he's also very caring and understanding, ugh I'm being sappy right now. But it's all true, tho.

I was so distracted in class, the thought of meeting Calum again is making me nervous, like I'm not kidding. My hands is cold and shit, after all this time trying to move on, rebuilding my walls, I'm not sure if I can keep that up if I see him again. I mean, fuck. He left me, he left all of his friends. Well his friends seems doing fine without him, me? not so much.

I was minding my own business, strolling down the hall like I own this place, with my bitch rest face on. But obviously, universe had other plans. I stopped at my track when I see Calum in flesh and bone in front of my locker. With Steffany. I was just about to run back to where Calum can't spot me, but before I get to do that, he turn around and lock his eyes at me. I panicked ran my way out the building.

Deciding that I'm not ready to face the reality that Calum is back, I ditched the rest of my class.

Michael's POV

I was happily catching up with Calum, but when he asked me if I had seen Alexis. I stopped, "I haven't see her. In fact, last time I saw her was before first period." Calum decided to drop the bomb that he and Alexis did an 'eye contact' and after that Alexis fled. I tried calling her but it was no luck. Me being Alexis only close friend, I actually feel bad for her. After all this time trying to move on from her past, failing at that, not to mention.

Now Calum is back, I honestly don't know what to do with her. "Is she okay, Mike?" Calum's question startled me, "honestly. What do you really expect?" I thought about telling Calum about Alexis being heartbroken and wrecked before. But I still want to live, I'm sure if I tell Calum about Al, she will go berserk on me. I said goodbye to Calum and head back to class. Also thinking where Al could be right now.

When it's time to go home. I still haven't heard from the little beast, Alexis.

After driving for a while, I found Alexis at the lake me, her, Calum used to go. Last time she was this broken is when Stef cut her friendship with Al and when Calum left all of his burden to her. "Al, don't do this to yourself." I took her hands.

"Hey, look at me." I lift her chin so she's looking straight to my eyes, "Sure, Calum Is back. But that does not mean your sadness is back too. You're already this far, Al. Don't let him effect you, remember?" I smiled at her and pull her to my famous bear hug.

"So, Ice cream?" I grin at her and she return it right back.

The Next Day / Alexis' POV

After my meltdown at the lake and Michael coming to rescue, I felt really sappy and ew. i'm so glad that it's Saturday. I was thinking of what I could do today. But I realized I'm just way too lazy to do shit today.

My nap would've went well if my phone isn't ringing nonstop, so now I'm sleepy and pissed. What a combination. I pick my phone without looking at the Caller ID, "what can I help you with?" I drawled lazily to my phone. "Hello, love." The voice sound familiar, but I can't quite put my fingers on it.

Now I'm just grumpy, "Okaay. Who's this?" the voice from the other end chuckled, "Forget me already? It's Ashton." I stare at my finger confused. "Ashton? why are you calling me? It's not like you're not allowed to call me it's just," I stop for a second, "weird?" I continue. "well I'm bored and I have nothing to do. I thought about you and I just want to ask you, you know. To hang out."

"Sure, Ash. I'm all in." I chuckle to myself, amused. "Alrighty, pick you up in a bit."

Turns out, hanging out with Ashton made me really happy. Like, I can't stop laughing because he's laughing and well, we're just laughing because of stupid shit he said.

"alright, I'm so fucking tired. But I don't quite want to go home yet. Are u tired, princess?" Ashton asked me with a lazy grin, we're currently at an abandon park, it's not creepy or anything, peaceful, actually. I return the grin, "Hmm, not quite. It's only 3pm. Let's go somewhere fun."

Here in this small town Rainfalls, Australia, we have a tradition, every Saturday there's a small carnival-fest thingy for families, group of teenagers, maybe even old people to enjoy their Saturday. Me and Ash decided to go here cause it's the only fun this town really have. "Soo, what are going to do first?" Ashton look at me, I grin.

"Let's do photobooth first, race you to the photobooth spot." I laugh and ran as fast as I could.

I panted when I arrived at the photobooth spot, turns out I won, "Quite the runner you are, Saleiman." Ash teased, "what can I say, I'm a talented problem runner. You know, like, running from my problems." I explained.

"okay, yeah, whatever princess. Lets take some photos."

Okay , so. I am such a money waster, like I know I shouldn't buy this giant unicorn but it's just sooo cute and I can't handle, Ashton is laughing at me and comparing me to Agnes from Despicable Me, "Hey, sue me, bitch. Sorry not sorry." I cackle at Ashton.

Our adventure has ended, me and Ash is giggling about stupid things in front of my house, in his car, "Thank you, Ashy. I had a lot of fun." I smiled, "Ashy, huh? And you're welcome princess. See you when I see you." I bid Ash a goodbye, not to forget he give me a sweet cheeky kiss on my cheek, ugh so dreamy.
