Thank you all!!!
“How are you feeling today?” Dr Weiss smiles as she walks into the room.
“Same as I did last month.” I smiled dejectedly.
“So fat, miserable and still have morning sickness?” She teases me reciting my answer from last month. Although I will say that I am super impressed that she remembered my quote.
“The morning sickness has passed thank goodness but the rest still holds pretty true.” I smirked.
“Well perk up. Today is a special day.”
“Why is that?” I said with the poorest enthusiasm I could muster.
“Because today my dear you are five months pregnant.” She says with an over joyous tone.
“Hooray?” I question.
“You know what happens at your five month checkup right?” She smiled.
“I guess not otherwise I’d be excited like you.” I answered flatly.
“Today is when I take you in for an ultrasound and we get to find out the sex of your baby.”
“Oh…” My lips stayed formed like the word sounds. I had never thought about the sex of the baby. I had done nothing but work and try to cope with living alone and missing Alex that being excited about being pregnant hadn’t really come into play. I will admit that the idea of knowing what I was going to be having will probably spark something inside my head to start getting more into this.
In less than four months I was having a baby. I should be excited.
“Come on darling; let’s get you down the hall and all hooked up shall we?”
I nodded my head and smiled. I all of a sudden felt really nervous. I would be lying if I said that I hadn’t thought about baby names. That was one of the only things I really had considered.
“Have you thought of any names?” She asked as we headed towards the ultrasound room.
“I have but I hadn’t decided on anything yet.”
I nervously walked into the room where the ultrasound table was already set up and waiting for me. I laid down onto the cold table and lifted my shirt up with anticipation. The good doctor swiftly input my information into the system grabbed the wand that would tell me the sex of my future child. A lump in my throat developed.
“Well?” I asked just as she began.
“Patience dear. I’ve got to take some measurements first.” She winked at me.
“So…” She hesitated to continue. “Have you told him?” She asked. She almost flinched fearing I’d blow up at her. I darn near bit her head off at the suggestion last month.
“No.” I frowned. “I ran into him a few weeks ago.” I added.
“How did that go?” She asked with hope.
“Poorly.” I sighed.
“What happened?” I shot her a glare. “Hey we are friends.” She smiled. “You can tell me anything.” She added.
