After nearly an hour drive we pull up to a night club called Plush. I’ve heard about it but I’ve ever been here. It looks high class. We pulled up to valet and an attendant open my door for me then offered a hand to help me up. I am not used to this kind of treatment so it made me blush slightly.
Alex walked around the car meeting me by the valet’s podium. I heard him speak to the attendant but truth be told I wasn’t paying any attention. My focus was on the loud music and fabulous people who were entering the club. This was the sort of club that you had to be on a guest list to enter. I felt honored to even be here.
We approached the bouncers and I grew nervous. I wasn’t ready to see me ex.
“Alexander and Stella Helix.” Alex announced our names to the bouncer. I shot him a glance and mouthed ‘Helix?’ to him. All he did was smirk and give me a kiss on the cheek. The bouncer checked off our name and allowed us entry inside. Here goes nothing.
Before we walked inside Alex grabbed my arm and pulled me off to one side. Was he nervous now too?
“Stella two things before we go inside. One, do not let what’s going on at home affect what’s going to happen inside. Meredith has it in her heart she thinks she knows what is best. So don’t waste any time tonight thinking about it. And two… “He looks around nervously as if he’s afraid to tell me the rest.
“And two?” I urge him.
“Look there is no other way to say this so I am just going to spit it out. In this sort of situation, I am known for throwing around a lot of money. That on top of the whole relationship game, I don’t want to make you feel uncomfortable. I want you to feel like I do this all the time and you’re used to it.”
“Well that will be hard. It does make me uncomfortable.”
“Stella, I may not look like much, but I make a lot of money doing what I do. If I blow $2,500 bucks tonight, it won’t even put a dent in my pocket book.” My mouth gaped open. I never would have fathomed him spending so much money in one night in the first place let alone at all.
“Am I doing it to show off, yes, but it’s more the fact that I want to piss off your ex not so much that I want to impress you. So please don’t take it as this is something I will always want you to be comfortable with.”
“You say that as if there is a future of this happening again.” I murmur sadly.
“Stella, we are not worrying about that tonight. And yes, I hope in the future there will be another night like tonight.” He smiled warming my saddened heart.
“So you’re going to enjoy pissing off my ex?”
“Like you can’t imagine.” He grinned wickedly.
“Oh Mr. Helix.” The bouncer got our attention.
“Yes.” He spun around to acknowledge him.
“I forgot to mention that the rest of your party has rented a private VIP booth. It’s in the back, section five.”
“Thank you.”
We turn to head inside and all I hear from Alex is, “And so the game begins.”
My ex had reserved a private area for us to sit. This was his first move of the night in what would be an epic chess match. This however did not knock Alex off his almighty horse. He knew how to impress. He’s already impressed me and that was way before we even got here.
We approached the table and I felt my heart just sink. Miss Malibu was wrapped from head to toe and a silk, white dress that was practically see through with her two karat diamond proudly waving around for all too see. I stopped in my track and Alex turned to face me. He could see the ache in my eyes. He leaned down and gave me a supportive kiss.
