Couple: Billy Hargrove x reader, Steve Harrington x readerWarnings: swearing. violence. very slow burn. angst.
AN: This is my first fanfiction on Billy Hargrove, and Steve Harrington AND Stranger Things in general, so be kind, please. I've had this idea for a while???? Also, I do not support Billy's behaviour, but I didn't wanna make him totally different, ya know? Jonathan is slightly OOC, but that's because he feels instantly close to the reader.
Most of this is AU and it's all mixed up, but work with me, here. I'm trying.
REQUESTS ARE OPEN.

So, let's get this straight, no, I didn't want to be here, but she found me. And how could I say no to her? She was sobbing, asking me to come with her as she was being held back. Watching as the fire roared before Y/N, she reminded the girl she had nowhere to go, how she couldn't go with her because where would she stay?
That didn't stop the man, that was holding the little girl back, from yelling that she could stay with them, if that's what it took to get her to come back with the both of them.
Why wouldn't she agree?
-------------------
Tires squealed as Y/N turned her head to look at what had made the sound in the first place. With an eyebrow raised, she watched as a male, about her age, had turned the ignition off and got out of the car.
"Max, I'll pick you up after school. Don't be late." He spoke, anger seeping through his voice as he watched her skate away. She had flipped him off and he turned away, flicking his cigarette butt on the pavement.
"Is that the new kid?" Y/N ears picked up the question, waiting for an answer.
"Who? The guy who just littered, or the girl that's randomly staring at the front doors?"
"Steve, come on." Nancy whined, a laugh erupting from the teen next to her.
Y/N rolled her eyes, and turned away from the school before lighting up a cigarette of her own.
"I already fucking hate this place." She mumbled and walked away from Hawkins High. "Bullshit."
-------------------
An hour-maybe it was two-later, Y/N opened the door to her small house in the middle of nowhere - well, Hawkins was basically nowhere, anyways so, whatever. Stepping inside, she sighed and took off her backpack.
"Any reason as to why you're home so early, when I dropped you off, what-" he checked his watch, rolling his eyes, "two damn hours ago. Come on, Y/N, you'd say you'd try."
She looked over to see a small, curly-haired child smiling at her. She dryly chuckled, "I just, I did try, Hopper, but-"
"Jim." He interrupted, eyes boring into the side of Y/N's head. "And there's no 'buts' here, Y/N. We've spent months, months, teaching you how to interact with other people."
Y/N glanced quickly at Hopper-Jim, he said to call him-before she looked down at the ground. Her eyes caught a small movement as Jim pointed to the girl in the doorway.
"Jane here, she knows how you feel, but I don't. I've lived here my whole life, people love me-"
A small snicker came from Jane, as she was now sitting on the couch, remote in hand.
"Don't start, girly. Anyways, no, I don't know how you feel, but, remember, that number on your wrist doesn't make you a freak." His voice became soft as he finished.
