Everything was a blur for a few moments. You saw Jane, first; the worried look on her face enough to make you sick to your stomach.
Hopper was second, with his mouth slightly open and his eyes widened, you didn't want to look at him any longer than you had to.
Had I done something wrong? You kept replaying the words through your head and you glanced at Billy, or his back, anyways.
He wasn't looking at you. His hands were cradling his head as he paced the room and you could tell by staring, that he was shaking.
Looking down, the bloody mess all around you had caught your attention. Bloodied towels, gauze, and—
"Oh, fuck, Joyce is going to be pissed." You mumbled, looking at the half dry blood stain on the couch and you groaned, throwing your head back.
"What happened, Y/N?" Eleven whispered as Mike came back into the living room, trash bag in his hand and the kids started cleaning up the mess around them.
"Jane, they may not be after you, but they will use you to get to me. Be cautious. Be careful. Always watch your back." The words made her shiver as your bottom lip trembled and she sat on the arm of the couch.
"Who?"
"Our family." The words had spewed out with such venom and Jane's eyes widened, hands shaking at the thought.
"We didn't do anything—"
"You didn't do anything." Your eyes were staring at your fingers and she kept her eyes on you, waiting for you to speak.
"You remember Rich? Number six, yeah?" You watched as she nodded and you breathed out hard, feeling as if you couldn't breathe at all.
This silence, was the loudest you had heard since being trapped in that room, at the lab and you couldn't hold the tears back as they poured down your face.
"He's dead, Jane. I...killed him." The shaky breathing from you was all that was heard in the room before Jane finally spoke.
"Why?"
"I had to get out. I...I needed to leave, you know? I couldn't stay there and...and Brenner sent them all out. Rich was the only one I had run into but, you know him. Always needing to impress someone."
Eyebrows furrowing, you felt the droplets fall onto your hands before breathing in and looking back up at Jane.
"He, uh..."
"Rich, come on, don't do this." The words came out so soft and scared, almost as if you were facing Brenner himself and he just shook his head.
"Me? You're the one trying to leave, you know? Dad has been nothing but kind to us—"
"To us? No, to you! To One! To Three! To Nine! To ten! Never to me, alright? Only broken fucking promises and some bullshit lies on the side, Six." Shaking, you took a timid step forward and so did he and you could almost taste the fresh air.
"You've always been a disappointment, Five. Always the late bloomer, the loner, the shut out—always begging for attention." He spat, making your hands curl into fists and you tried to calm yourself before something rash happened.
"I've always been the smart one, Six. The one to leave due to seeing the toxic nature of what this place holds. The one who never bought into Brenner's bullshit because I knew it was all fake while you—" you bit your lip before shaking your head and laughing, "while you and the others begged for daddy's attention like the idiots you are—"
