AN: I'll get back to you on if I reach 5k. I don't think it's a choice, anymore, though. So. Much. Information.

Steve sat on the couch as he replayed the words Hopper spoke to him and he groaned, placing his head in his hands. You had blamed yourself for everything that Brenner had done. He rubbed his hands together and waited.

He was waiting for you to come out so he could bombard you with questions, but, suddenly, he didn't think that would be the best option. It was hard being in love with someone he barely knew but he knew he was going to fight for it.

Fight for you.

Fight for them.

As his eyes skimmed over the living room, he sighed and crossed his legs under himself.

This wasn't how he planned to spend his Monday night.

“Six.”

“No—”

“Five.”

“No.”

“Seven?”

“You can't up the price right after you lowered it, Dust. I'm not giving you anything, go away.”

“But, Five—”

“You go to the arcade everyday, kid. Shoo.”

“Did you just ‘shoo’ me?”

Shoo.”

“Y/N—”

Shooooooooooooo.”

“Did...did I just hear you ‘shoo’ a kid?”

“Thank you, Steve!”

“Both of you, leave me alone.”

“Oh, c’mon, Y/N, just look at him—”

Shoo. Oh my God! ”

“Did you just…”

“I think she did, Steve.”

With a scoff, he sat beside you and plucked the book out of your hands—”this seems to happen a lot“ was his slick comeback—and you grimaced.

“It wouldn't happen a lot if you didn't do it at all.” You shot back, snatching the book out of his hands and holding it close to you.

“You're serious about your books.”

“You're serious about being this annoying.”

“Damn, that was a burn, Harrington.” A laugh followed the comment and both of you turned to the voice, Steve rolling his eyes when he saw it was Billy. “It almost seems like she doesn't like you.”

“It almost seems like…you're still a dick?”

“Shit, that hurt.”

“You're both making my brain—and my ears—hurt.”

“Okay, ouch.” They sync and scoff, making them turn away from each other.

“You're acting like kids.”

“No, I'm not!”

“He is—” Steve was cut off by your offensive comment.

“Dustin is even being more mature than you guys, jeez.” You hummed, knowing that will keep them thinking for a while and you got up, wrapping a blanket around you. Sighing out, you closed your eyes and listened to the boys starting to bicker again.
