As the year carried on Maddy became worse, her life spiralled out of control she could no longer control her emotions, her thoughts or her feelings. She had started her battle with anxiety and depression it was not a pretty sight. What made this situation all so much worse was not that no one supposedly noticed but many did, many saw the changes in Maddy and her depression settling in but never said anything; no one tried to help. Her smile faded, her eyes dimmed, she lost weight quickly from lack of eating, her skin became pale and little marks and scars started to appear across her body but still no one said a word.
The day her self-harm started she was in a very bad mental place within her head. Walking down the hallway from one class to the next when Charlie walked right into her; making her drop everything she was holding in her hands. Instead of apologizing to her Charlie gave her the death glare and mumbled at her "pathetic little girl no one cares about your stupid problems" gave her one more glare and stomped off. Her emotions welled up she couldn't hold it anymore it was all too much she skipped her last lesson and ran home. Took the stairs two at a time and slammed her door shut behind her locking it in the process; slowly sliding down with her back against the door till she finally hit the floor in hysterics hyperventilating and tears streaming. She didn't and couldn't think straight. All her mind could think was I need to get rid of this pain this sorrow welling up inside. As tears slid from her cheeks she leaned forward took hold of pencil sharper she took apart for the blade inside. As those tears flowed and got heavier she held that blade to her arm slid it across leaving a tiny little red line starting to well up with a stream of ruby red blood. A few times she did this till she had five little line on her arm. Crossing her arms over her knees she laid her head down and cried until she finally fell asleep.
Waking up the next day was a sore reminder of what had happened the night before. Looking at her arm she smiled a sad smile knowing this wouldn't be the end of these little marks appearing. She took the stairs two at a time trying not to be too loud and wake her housemates up, Riffling round in the cupboards she found bandages and surgical tape; using both she cleaned, sterilized and wrapped her arm. Getting dressed she put on a long-sleeved top to hide the fresh wounds and headed for university.
No one said anything as the hours ticked by and the day was coming to a near end no one had bothered mentioning or asking what happened; even the teachers didn't say a word to her. She wasn't even sure anyone could see the bandage meaning that she had done a good job hiding it she was still invisible to everyone around her. The only problem with this statement is what is now to follow her because of that day.
Maddy became addicted to the self-harm; got addicted to taking that razor blade across that beautiful skin of hers wiping it up and bandaging it up. Every time no one noticed the fresh new cuts that littered her skin because she hid them so well. She hid her emotions pushed them down inside making sure not to bring attention to herself till she can get home and carry on her addiction. The issue this brought was eventually she had covered the areas of her arm that people wouldn't notice had been covered up; showing how bad this addiction got she took to the inside of her legs and this is where the fatal day came when again Maddy was thrown into a world of pain and despair.
