The day she realized sooner or later she would have to face the music, to face what she had done and go out into public and allow the world to see what she now is. She swung her legs off the bed head hung low a tear runs down her cheek "this is the day the world will know and see these scars". Pushing herself off the bed she heads towards the mirror stands in front of the mirror studying herself. Running a hand down the mirror; more tears falling. "What have I done; I guess this is who I am now" a small smile tugs at the corner of her lips as she wipes away her tears. She gets washed and dressed and ready for university; puts on her favourite lipstick, her best dress and a pair of slip-on shoes. She takes one more glance in the mirror "This is who I am now I am not going to hide it".
As she walks into University she gets a mixture of looks; some sympathetic, some judgemental and some just downright cruel. She can hear murmuring people talking about her saying her name, speaking about what happened and her scars. Maddy ignores them and lets the smile slip onto her face. She knew she had made a mistake but she had learned from it and she did not care what anyone else thought. She did not see Charlie at all during her first school back she was sort of relieved but sort of gutted; she was relieved and she could not tell how he would react after what he had said in the hospital but she was gutted because she wanted to see his face and she showed she was stronger didn't need him and barred her scars with pride.
She walked home from university with a smile on her face that night. "I can really do this". She fell asleep that night peacefully with a grin on her face happy with how her life was no matter what had happened.
