"You always trick me!" His sister's voice jumped an octave higher.
William laughed unhappily and not from his heart like he used to do. 

Oh, how his sister was right.
As an older brother he always felt the need to gently mock and trick his little sister. 

"I would never let anything bad happen to you. Please believe me. Believe in me, Janie." he said and took another step towards her.
The ice beneath his feet made a fatal sound. His heart skipped a beat and then continued beating rapidly.
