Edit because the first draft sucked.
----------------------------------------
The camera light blinks red. Oh great.
"God. It is like the odds are against me." I shift in my seat for what will be the final cut. "Well I hope you all have a lovely day! See you next week." The camera dies in the middle of my last word. I let out a deep sigh. This video is going to suck. I spin in my chair, watching my posters and fan art fly past my vision. I let my feet put me to a skidding stop. I rise to my knees to reach down my desk and turn on some music, I have never been able to stand the silence. I play I'm Ready by AJR and the bass shakes my glass of water. I no longer give a crap if the neighbors complain. I do what it want, My room is a mess. Most of the junk is my roommate's, she has her exams this week. Only one more day in this hell hole they call college and it will be summer. Maybe I should pack... The idea rattles in my mind.
I plug the camera into my computer to download the files that will take me hours to edit. I stare at the screen at my smile. I see my face flash a series of emotions. All including funny and awkward expressions. Am I seriously living my life through the internet? Suddenly I feel the need to be productive. I push myself up from my seat, almost falling due to my half asleep legs. I drag my black and aged suitcase from under the bed. It has a coat of dust on it. With an old tshirt I wipe it off. In no particular order I throw all of my clothes in, then I sit on the suitcase to shut it. Most of my stuff was shipped home last week. I release a puff of air when it is finally zipped.
Across the room there is a stack of boxes that has my roommates clothes on top of it, she is such a slob. I chuck the to the side and grab a box and the tape that lies inside. More carefully, I lay all of my photos, books, and other items I can do without with until I get home. One more day.
-----------------------------------
I lay in bed watching the final run of my video entitled 'my impossible dreams'. My screen illuminates my bunk and the light fans out on the ceiling.
"Wouldn't it be great if I could go to Vidcon one day?" I ask the camera, my voice higher than I hear in my head. I watch my eyes light up and fall as I realized that will never happen. I have always wanted to be in Vidcon, I would even be grateful just to go to it. "I'm so silly." I make a weird face to the camera and then you see me panic and sign off. My followers, they must be bored with me, all of them. I have been here in school for so long and I have been so busy that Youtube has slowly shrunk away. I post the video. I set my laptop to the side of me and look at the rungs on the bottom of the top bunk.
"Hey Kelsi?" I murmur kicking her mattress.
"What Tonnie?" Her voice it tired and annoyed. "It is 11:30 and I have a final tomorrow, not all of us can pack up and leave like you." I hear her roll over.
"I just have one question." I plead her.
"What?" She whispers.
"Do you think I'm funny?" I realize the ridiculousness of the question, it seems I am twelve instead of 20.
"What kind of question is that?" There is a long pause. Kelsi has been my roommate for two years and is basically a Barbie doll. She is sometimes really hard to talk to because she is so sassy and judgmental, but I love her all the same. I see her head peek over the edge. "Tonn, of course you're funny. The funniest I know. I know you might get down sometimes, but I think one day you can make it big." I see her teeth glisten off the light of my screen. "Come on, you live in LA. Anything can happen."
